Petaluma, CA- In the team's most ambitious Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 season to date, TRG had an outstanding 2008 campaign, placing two cars inside the top five and four inside the top 15 in the final GT class team standings.

In addition, TRG driver Tim George Jr. claimed both the MESCO Building for the Future Rookie of the Year Award and the Bob Akin Award for the top sportsman driver in the GT class, and the team claimed top 10 finishes in all 13 races this season. The team fielded as many as seven Porsches this season and had at least three in almost every event.

"What an incredible year," said TRG owner Kevin Buckler. "This was the largest and most comprehensive program we've ever run in the Rolex Series and we were able to have a strong and smooth season thanks to an outstanding effort by everybody on the team. I'm so proud of everything we accomplished this season, and I can't wait to get back after it at Daytona."

Save for the race at Mexico City in April, where only the No. 66 and No. 67 Porsches competed, TRG had three or more cars in every event. The team finished the year with a victory for the No. 67 team with drivers Andy Lally and George in September's inaugural race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and a total of eight podium results. TRG Porsches finished inside the top five 14 times and the team had top 10 results 25 times in 2008.

Round 1 - Rolex 24 At Daytona

With seven Porsche GT3s and 33 drivers flying TRG colors for the twice-around-the-clock season-opener, TRG had high expectations based on its strong driver lineups and impressive times in preseason testing. Those expectations were met when both the team's No. 66 and No. 67 Porsche GT3s spent significant time at the head of the field through the overnight hours, most of the time running first and second in class. In the final hours of the race, however, overheating issues prevented either car from challenging for the victory, but the team held on to take second, third, and fourth, a first and a milestone for any Rolex Series team.

Round 2 - Homestead-Miami Speedway

After nearly a two-month break, TRG and the Rolex Series returned to action at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the annual visit to the South Florida facility. TRG brought three entries to Homestead, and the team was led in qualifying by Ted Ballou, who placed the No. 66 Porsche an impressive sixth on the grid. The race would be another matter, however, as Ballou and co-driver Bryce Miller encountered problems due to contact.

No. 67 Porsche co-drivers Tim George Jr. and Spencer Pumpelly worked their way to the front, with Pumpelly bringing the No. 67 machine home in second place for the team's seventh consecutive podium result at Homestead. With the performance, George and Pumpelly took the lead in the GT point standings. Small issues kept the strong duo of RJ Valentine and Bryan Sellers off the podium here.

Round 3 - Mexico City

While No. 67 Porsche co-drivers Spencer Pumpelly and Tim George Jr. headed south of the border with the GT class points lead, it was the No. 66 pairing of Ted Ballou and Bryce Miller who would carry the day for TRG in Mexico City. After starting 12th on the grid, Ballou drove a solid opening stint before turning the car over to Miller, who brought home the No. 66 squad's second top-10 result of the season. Pumpelly and George, meanwhile, were in contention for a top-10 run of their own before broken wheel studs forced them out of the running.

Round 4 - Virginia International Raceway

After running two cars in the previous round in Mexico City, TRG expanded to a four-car effort for the annual visit to Virginia International Raceway, welcoming co-drivers Bryan Sellers and RJ Valentine back to the team's No. 68 Porsche and Jim Lowe and Jim Pace back in the No. 64 TRG/J Lowe Racing machine. Tim George Jr. and Spencer Pumpelly, who were disappointed with a 12th-place showing in their No. 67 Porsche in Mexico City, came back with a vengeance at VIR, scoring their third podium result of the season with a second-place performance. Contact during the race wreaked havoc for both the No. 66 Porsche of Bryce Miller and Ted Ballou and the No. 68 machine of Sellers and Valentine. Lowe and Pace opted for a different pit strategy, which forced the No. 64 Porsche onto pit lane under green flag conditions and the duo came home 13th.

Round 5 - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

In the race nearest to the TRG headquarters in Petaluma, Calif., the team brought an impressive five entries to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., with the No. 65 TRG/Riegel Autosport Porsche for co-drivers Craig Stanton and Hima Maher joining the four entries fielded previously. As they had done throughout the early stages of the 2008 Rolex Series season, Spencer Pumpelly and Tim George Jr. once again led the way for TRG with another second-place run, their fourth in five races. The No. 67 teammates were joined in the top 10 by Stanton and Maher, who came home eighth in the No. 65 machine, while Ted Ballou and Bryce Miller took 10th in the No. 66 Porsche.

Round 6 - Lime Rock Park

TRG once again fielded four cars in the annual Memorial Day event at Lime Rock Park, placing two of its Porsches inside the top 10. Tim George Jr. and Spencer Pumpelly missed the podium for just the second time in six races, but still turned in a solid effort with a sixth-place performance in the No 67 Porsche. No. 66 Porsche co-drivers Ted Ballou and Bryce Miller, meanwhile, earned their fourth top-10 result of the year with a 10th-place showing. The Lime Rock event also featured John Potter's impressive first Rolex Series start of the season with TRG, as well as Andy Lally's first Rolex Series appearance since the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona. Valentine drove a strong opening stint in Lime Rock, which was negated as the Pontiacs had the field covered.

Round 7 - Watkins Glen International

TRG again expanded to a five-car entry for the annual Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen with the No. 64 TRG/J Lowe Racing Porsche joining the lineup with co-drivers Jim Lowe, Jim Pace and Tim Sugden. The six-hour event proved difficult for the TRG team, in particular the Grand-Am-spec Pirelli Tires, which gave every TRG driver fits. In the end, it was the No. 65 TRG/Riegel Autosport Porsche of Hima Maher, team leader Craig Stanton and newcomer Josemanuel Gutierrez who would lead the way for the team with a ninth-place result. Throttle problems ruined what could have been a top-five performance for the No. 66 Porsche lineup of Ted Ballou, Bryce Miller and Porsche factory driver Richard Westbrook, and the championship aspirations of No. 67 Porsche co-drivers Tim George Jr. and Spencer Pumpelly-who were slated to share the car with Andy Lally-took a hit when George was involved in an opening-lap crash that sent the car to the garage for lengthy repairs.

Round 8 - Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Heading to Mid-Ohio, TRG's driver lineup saw a significant change, with three-time Rolex Series champion Andy Lally joining Ted Ballou in the team's No. 66 Porsche. In a wet and wild race, Lally and Ballou carried the flag for TRG with a fourth-place run, followed closely by the No. 65 TRG/Riegel Autosport Porsche of Josemanuel Gutierrez and Craig Stanton in fifth place with very impressive performances by both drivers. RJ Valentine and Bryan Sellers also had a strong showing in the No. 68 Porsche, with Valentine driving a fantastic opening stint and Sellers leading the race for nine laps, before getting caught up in an accident. For the second consecutive race, No. 67 Porsche teammates Tim George Jr. and Spencer Pumpelly were frustrated by an early-race incident.

Round 9 - Daytona International Speedway

TRG placed three of its four Porsches inside the top 10 in the second visit of the year to Daytona International Speedway for the Brumos Porsche 250, but the team was frustrated by the Porsche's considerable and surprising disadvantage to the Pontiacs and Mazdas in the field. Andy Lally and Ted Ballou led the way for the team in the No. 66 Porsche with a fifth-place performance, the third top-five run of the season for both drivers. Craig Stanton and Hima Maher finished eighth in the No. 65 TRG/Riegel Autosport Porsche, followed in ninth place by Spencer Pumpelly and Tim George Jr. in the No. 67 machine.

Round 10 - Barber Motorsports Park

TRG had another significant change in its driver lineup prior to the Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant at Barber Motorsports Park, as Spencer Pumpelly moved into the No. 66 Porsche alongside co-driver Ted Ballou and Andy Lally joined co-driver Tim George Jr. in the No. 67 Porsche. The move appeared to pay immediate dividends, as Lally and George combined to finish third while Pumpelly and Ballou also scored top-five results with a fifth-place run. Scott Schroeder, who was a full-time TRG driver in the KONI Challenge in 2008, joined RJ Valentine in the No. 68 Porsche, while Hima Maher and Craig Stanton again shared the No. 65 TRG/Riegel Autosport Porsche.

Round 11 - Montreal

Entering the race as defending champions, TRG made its second visit to Montreal's Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve looking for another strong performance, and the team was in contention for the victory for most of the race. However, fuel strategy created havoc for almost every team in the field and certainly cost TRG, as late-race pit stops robbed the team of would-be top-five results. Tim George Jr. and Andy Lally once again led the team with a sixth-place performance in the No. 67 Porsche, with Canadian Hima Maher and Craig Stanton finishing eighth in the No. 65 TRG/Riegel Autosport Porsche. Spencer Pumpelly and Ted Ballou just missed a top-10 performance when the No. 66 Porsche ran short of fuel on the final lap, while two flat tires contributed to a tough race for a very competitive car and duo of RJ Valentine and Bryan Sellers in the No. 68 machine.

Round 12 - New Jersey Motorsports Park

The inaugural Rolex Series visit to New Jersey Motorsports Park was undoubtedly the highlight of the year for TRG. The team's strong weekend got off to a rousing start when Bryan Sellers put the No. 68 Porsche on the GT pole position. In the race, the No. 67 pairing of Tim George Jr. and Andy Lally drove an outstanding race, with Lally leading a race-high 38 laps en route to the team's first victory of the season. Both the No. 66 Porsche of Ted Ballou and Spencer Pumpelly and the No. 68 Porsche of Sellers and RJ Valentine--who drove a superb middle stint--were also podium contenders for most of the race. Ballou and Pumpelly wound up fourth and Sellers and Valentine came home ninth.

Round 13 - Miller Motorsports Park

The 2008 Rolex Series season concluded with a 1,000-kilometer race on the 4.5-mile road circuit at Miller Motorsports Park. Three TRG Porsches were in the field and the team welcomed Porsche factory driver Patrick Long to its lineup in the No. 67 Porsche alongside Andy Lally and Tim George Jr., who was looking to wrap up Rookie of the Year honors. The No. 67 team did just that, with an impressive performance that yielded a third-place result. The No. 66 Porsche of Ted Ballou, Spencer Pumpelly and Bryan Sellers ran much of the race inside the top five and secured a top-10 finish, while the No. 65 TRG/Riegel Autosport trio of John Potter, Josemanuel Gutierrez and Craig Stanton also finished the season inside the top 20 with very impressive iron-man performances by all 3 drivers.

TRG was founded in 1993 and has been competing at the top level of sports car racing ever since. The team has the most wins of any team in the Grand-Am Rolex Series with 23, including the 2005 and 2006 Rolex Series GT championship trophy to go along with wins at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 24 Hours or Le Mans.

TRG is a manufacturer and distributor of high-performance racing parts. The group specializes in engine and chassis building as well as full service professional race car preparation. The company also provides electrical and mechanical engineering services, driver development and arrive-and-drive opportunities.
