“We want
to help” – Big Benefit Concert for Charity in Bietigheim-Bissingen
Porsche
sponsors PUR
Stuttgart/Bietigheim.
Porsche, Olymp and the
town of Bietigheim-Bissingen together have made it possible: The only
concert to be given by the band PUR this year is to take place in the
open air in Bietigheim-Bissingen. On Saturday, September 20, at 19:30,
the most successful German-speaking group will be playing beneath the
railway viaduct – the town’s landmark – for up to 17,000 fans. This was
the good news announced at a press conference in the Bietigheim town
hall by front man and lead singer Hartmut Engler, Mayor Jürgen
Kessing and representatives of Porsche and Olymp. All proceeds from the
concert will be going to charitable organizations in the
Bietigheim-Bissingen area. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, and
the well-known shirt-makers Olymp Bezner GmbH & Co. KG,
Bietigheim-Bissingen, together with the town itself, are shouldering
all the costs involved in mounting the performance.
“We as a town are proud that
this concert, which is literally unique, will be happening in
Bietigheim-Bissingen. It is the
absolute highlight of our cultural calendar this year.
Bietigheim-Bissingen will be
giving a warm welcome to the band’s many fans from all over Germany –
and of course I am also speaking on behalf of our social institutions,
which will benefit from their visit. Having fun and doing good – it’s a
great project”, said Mayor Kessing, speaking before the press.
Hartmut Engler said: “For me,
as a member of a Bietigheim Band this is a ‘home match’. This year we
were going to cut down a bit and weren’t intending to give any
concerts, but then we got the idea for this benefit concert. The band
were all in favor straight away. I’m sure our fans all over the country
are looking forward to it as much as we are. It means a great deal to
us that the proceeds from the ticket sales will be going to a good
cause. We are counting on at least 200,000 Euro, which can then be
donated to charity.”
Christian Dau, Deputy Head of
PR and press relations of Porsche AG, also emphasized the local
community angle: “Five subsidiaries of our enterprise are located in
Bietigheim-Bissingen, with a total of more than 700 employees. This
makes us not only one of the major employers there, but means that we
welcome local social commitment. This is why we are supporting the
benefit concert. Moreover, it is our policy at Porsche to support
German as the language of the enterprise, and this is another link with
PUR.”
Tickets for the concert can now
be reserved on the Ticket-Hotline +49 711-255 55 55 and the Internet
pages www.easyticket.de and www.eventim.de, or can be obtained from all
the usual ticket agencies.
