Porsche
Shows Strong Development in North America
Stuttgart. Despite the rather
sluggish economy, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, once again
achieved a good sales result in the USA and Canada in May 2008. Out of
the total number of vehicles delivered to the region of 3,004 units in
the month under report, 2,796 went to the USA and 208 to Canada. While this is a
decrease overall in North America of 17 per cent year-on-year, the
previous year’s figure was the highest sales figure in May ever
achieved by Porsche in North America.
The Cayenne sports utility
featuring fuel-saving power units with direct gasoline injection ever
since the launch of the second model generation somewhat more than a
year ago remained in great customer demand. The particularly dynamic
and sporting Cayenne GTS introduced in markets the world over in March
2008 accounted alone for 391 deliveries in May. In all, the Cayenne
model series was up in May in the USA and Canada by 4 per cent to 1,244
vehicles delivered.
The 911 accounted for sales of
901 units in North America in May 2008, down by 32 percent from the
previous year. Deliveries of the Boxster model series amounted to 859
units, equaling a decrease by 20 per cent year-on-year. Within this
model series the Cayman und Cayman S accounted for a total of 480 units
delivered.
