During the European Formula 1 Grand Prix, Wolfgang Dürheimer, Executive Vice-President Research and Development at Porsche AG, presented a cheque for 250,000 Euro. Moreover, Porsche makes the technology of the Weissach-developed crash cushion for race and test circuits available to the Nürburgring free-of-charge. These bolted-together tyre-stacks with a special foam core substantially improve the safety, above all in the areas with limited run-off zones.

“For Porsche it goes without saying that we wanted to make our contribution to the increase in safety on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The circuit is unique in the world – on the one hand as a circuit for top-class motorsport as well as for many recreational racers and on the other hand as the ultimate test track for the development of our production vehicles,” says Dürheimer explaining the support of Porsche AG.

The FIA-approved elements absorb considerably more energy than crash barriers and need not be replaced after an impact, as they revert back into their original form.
