Snetterton (24th June 2006)
Rounds 7 and 8 of the 924
championship saw 19 identical Porsche 924's on the grid at Snetterton.
The Willspin racing team didn't take part in this round to to financial
commitments elsewhere (MOT and Car tax on the road car had to take
preference).
The races were close and hard fought seeing Will Penrose take the
chequered flag in both races. Race one saw Will Penrose steal the lead
from the initial race leader, Gary Duckman and saw him hold on until
the end. It was Will's first win in the 924's, so props go out to him.
The second race saw Will take the win again being hounded for the lead
again by Gary Duckman. In the end it was Martin Todd who took second
place, after coming from way down the grid due to clutch problems in
race 1, and taking advantage of Duckman's oversteery car.
Could this be a fightback for the championship from Will Penrose, or
was Gary just having a bad weekend? Time will tell. The next race is on
the Silverstone clubman's course on the 14th June. The Willspin Team
hope to be there, with a working car.
