TRG GT4 Sprint action rumbles into the Glen

SRO

Team TRG returns to the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York for GT4 America Clubsport excitement at the 3.37-mile, 11-turn road course of Watkins Glen International. Derek DeBoer and Spencer Pumpelly are positioned at 5th place overall in the heated Pro/Am GT4 America Championship. They plan to turn up the heat and the pressure as they eye a podium finish.

TRG has a long and successful history at the Glen, posting the only ever 1-2 Daytona Prototype finish at the 6-hour race, as well as having a total of two additional GT class wins at the 6-Hour, two class wins in the fall race and two wins in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge races held here. TRG Motorsports also competed at Watkins Glen in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series three years in a row, fighting head-to-head with the best of the best in NASCAR's top-tier of competition.

Derek DeBoer

"Even with the long trip from southern Oregon all the way to upstate New York, I always look forward to Watkins Glen, a favorite track with lots of history and lots of TRG success. I'm ready for a race where we don’t get hit —  Intelligence tells me that if I don’t get knocked off the track by another car, that elusive win could be possible"

Derek DeBoer will be driving #66/LaSalle Solutions / FASTLIFE.TV / BRM / AutoLeadStar / Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport with co-driver Spencer Pumpelly.

Spencer Pumpelly

"Watkins Glen is one of my favorite places to race. I love the town and all the history within. The track is fast with lots of intermediate and high speed corners with plenty of elevation changes. We had a good race one three weeks ago at Road America. Hopefully we can carry the momentum forward."

We always love coming back to Watkins Glen, such a historic track in such a beautiful part of the country. We have a great history here, as well. Over the years we’ve run with NASCAR Sprint Cup, Daytona Prototypes, Aston Martin Racing, the Pontiac GTO.R program and, of course, incredible success with Porsche. We plan to do what we’ve always done at Watkins—go for the win. We have an excellent Pro/Am driver lineup with DeBoer/Pumpelley in #66.

Derek DeBoer seems to do best on the most dangerous or challenging tracks which goes with his background … when you are comfortable being upside down behind the wakeboard boat at 40 miles an hour, it makes driving a snap!

Spencer has been with us on several of our big wins here including an incredible drive at the Six Hours, and I know he is looking forward to getting back in action at this awesome natural terrain racing circuit. I want to get us back on the podium in championship where we belong!
