Famous names, racing games and Iron Dames
Visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed (10 – 13 July) can look forward to another stellar celebration of motoring and motor sport at the ultimate automotive garden party. Throughout the four days dedicated to car culture and motor sport, Porsche will present its latest models with the support of a star-studded cast of personalities whose individual passion, ambition, and dreams mirror that of the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. Joining Porsche on different days over the event will be guests stars including Brand Ambassador Mark Webber, Sarah Bovy and Karen Gaillard from the Iron Dames, and TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team development driver Gabi Jílková.
With the theme of this year’s event in mind, The Winning Formula - Champions and Challengers, it is appropriate that the latest generation of the motorsport-inspired 911 GT3 makes it Goodwood debut. The 911 GT3 has offered the ultimate spread of circuit to street usability since its introduction in 1999. The new model, unveiled last autumn, is offered as a track-focused sports car with a rear wing, and in a more understated Touring package configuration. The 911 GT3 Touring not only forgoes the rear spoiler, but for the first time offers rear seats as an option, allowing the everyday sports car to be adapted even more individually to the wishes of the customer – and their family!
This will be joined by the 911 GT3 RS with Manthey Kit, whose factory-approved package further optimises the aerodynamic performance and chassis dynamics for which the GT cars are renowned – in this case, in pursuit of ultimate circuit lap times. The 911 GT3 RS is uncompromisingly designed for maximum performance – and the Manthey Kit clearly underlines these intentions. The GT3 RS takes full advantage of technology and concepts from motorsport, from its high-revving naturally aspirated 525 PS engine to its intelligent lightweight construction. But it is the cooling and aerodynamic elements – especially the distinctive rear wing featuring a drag reduction system - that connect the GT3 RS most directly with its motorsport brother, the 911 GT3 R.
And the 911 GT3 R will also be in action, with the Iron Dames behind the wheel as part of its ongoing partnership with Porsche Motorsport. The Iron Dames returned to the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the seventh consecutive year in June, writing yet another chapter in their trailblazing story as the only all-female line-up among the 62 teams entered in the world’s most iconic endurance race. Sarah Bovy (B) will be driving the 565 PS rear-engined 911 GT3 R in the timed Shoot-Out, supported by Porsche Carrera Cup France Junior, Karen Gaillard (F). Resplendent in its distinctive pink and white livery, the Iron Dames 911 GT3 R will be a guaranteed highlight among the Porsche race cars destined for the Hill.
Joining the Iron Dames racer will be the ‘Type 992’ 911 GT3 Cup Car, as is used in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship. Its driver for the weekend is Porsche Cars Great Britain’s own ‘Junior’, RAFA Racing Club Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2024 / 2025 Junior, James Wallis (GB), who follows tradition by taking part in the annual timed Shoot-Out on the Hill. In May, James clinched his first Carrera Cup GB victory at Snetterton, which coincided with the 400th race in the championship's history.
Porsche Formula E development driver Gabi Jílková (CZ) will be behind the wheel of an all-new Porsche, with both car and driver attending Goodwood for the first time.
Also certain to get more than a fair share of attention is the dramatic ‘zebra’ liveried Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package, which with up to 1,034 PS on tap from its electric motors is the most powerful production Porsche ever.
A walk through Goodwood
The famous 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill is the main focal point for the thrilling on-track displays of cars spanning the dawn of motoring right up to the present day. While these dramatic demonstrations are always a highlight of the annual event, enthusiasts will find many Porsche touchpoints throughout the Festival of Speed.
Beyond the collection of iconic road and race cars in the Ballroom Paddock, Supercar Run and First Glance that will be running up the Hill, the Porsche Experience stand, located on the right side of the hillclimb course close by the Molecomb corner, is primary touchstone of the brand. Here, visitors are invited to see the latest new car highlights from the current range, as well as explore the ever-growing offerings from Porsche Classic. Chief among the vehicles on display is the alluring 911 Spirit 70 Edition, a special series of the iconic sports car – based on the 911 GTS - created by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur department and incorporating subtle cultural styling cues of the 1970s and early 1980s.
The Porsche Experience is also the prime destination to shop the latest merchandise, with a range of collections, as well as the Porsche Design Timepieces that can be personalised to match the design of our cars, taking inspiration from the product to create a ‘sports car for the wrist.’ A café and extensive seating areas provide the perfect environment to relax and take in what’s going on – thanks to an enormous screen displaying all the action from the Goodwood Hill. There’s also an area for children, with some great free activities.
Look out for the ultimate expression of ‘Sonderwunsch’ at the Porsche Café Le Mans
For visitors wishing to refuel themselves, the Porsche Café Le Mans will be once more situated on the outside of the track near the footbridge, offering the opportunity to pre-book for dining throughout the weekend. But there is also a unique highlight to admire here, marking an extra special Goodwood debut.
Fresh from its world premiere prior to the Le Mans 24 Hours last month, a sister to the 963 Hypercar has been revealed – named the 963 RSP. Based on the 963 endurance race winner with unique Sonderwunsch (‘special wishes’) design changes, it is powered by a 4.6 litre twin-turbocharged V8 developing up to approximately 680 PS. Developed in partnership with motorsport legend Roger Penske, whose initials form the name of the car, the 963 RSP closely follows the design direction taken by a very special Porsche that first took to the road 50 years ago – the Count Rossi 917.
An extreme one-off based on the 2024 World Endurance Championship-winning machine with unique bodywork and interior, the 963 RSP project is the work of a team from Porsche AG, Porsche Penske Motorsport and Porsche Cars North America. The Sonderwunsch team in Zuffenhausen translated the idea to reality in cooperation with the colleagues at Porsche Classic in Atlanta.
Starting out as a passion project by a small team of enthusiasts at Penske and at Porsche, the goal was a version of the 963 that really resembled as closely as possible the spirit and appearance of the Count Rossi 917. The 917 was every inch a race car – albeit one driven on the road – and the same approach was taken with the 963 RSP. It uses beautiful materials of the best quality available but is still every bit a race car underneath.
Nevertheless, it features significant changes over the car on which it is based, brought to life by the Sonderwunsch team in Zuffenhausen in cooperation with the colleagues at Porsche Classic in Atlanta. Unlike the competition race cars, which are wrapped in different colours, the 963 RSP is the first of its kind to be painted. In a nod to the Count Rossi 917, the 963 RSP is finished in Martini Silver and features uniquely altered bodywork and a bespoke tan leather and Alcantara interior inspired by the trim choices made by Count Rossi 50 years ago.
In April 1975, a 917 (chassis #30) – itself the most advanced endurance race car at that time – made an extraordinary journey, not on the track, but on public roads. From the factory in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany, it travelled to Paris - at the wheel was its enigmatic owner, who insisted on as few changes as possible to the car. Celebrating fifty years since that audacious first drive on public roads, this rare example of the revered 917 is also on display at the Porsche Café Le Mans.
Porsche Club GB celebrates passion of community
The Porsche Club GB is also celebrated at Goodwood, with a special parking area beside the House of Porsche given over to members of the Club. The second largest Porsche Club in the global family, up to 250 club members will be displaying their cars in a special parking area next to the Porsche stand each day over the weekend.
The first Porsche Club was founded in Germany in 1952 and the network has since grown to cover more than 700 Clubs worldwide encompassing over 240,000 members in 86 countries.
About the Iron Dames
‘Women driven by dreams’: the Iron Dames motto applies to all women who break down barriers and go beyond their limits. Founded in 2018 by Deborah Mayer, Iron Dames is a groundbreaking project that empowers women to compete on equal terms with men in mixed-gender fields. The project began in motorsport, becoming the first all-female line-up to win an FIA World Endurance Championship race in 2023. It has since expanded to a 16-driver line-up, contesting a range of disciplines including single seaters, rallying and karting.
The project is developing year-on-year, with Iron Dames Young Talents nurturing the next generation of female racers in grassroots motorsport. It has also expanded into the equestrian world, with 12 top riders competing in the prestigious Longines Global Champions League. In 2024, the team’s core values took on new significance with the educational and inspirational Meet the Iron Dames and Every Dream Matters initiatives. And for 2025, the Iron Dames joined forces with Porsche Motorsport with a 911 GT3 R racing campaign in Asia, Europe and the USA.
Porsche stands for a culture of equal opportunities and diversity. Encouraging women to get involved in motorsport and then supporting them in open competition is something the company values highly. “Porsche X Iron Dames – because every dream matters” is a slogan that represents the close collaboration between Porsche Motorsport and the renowned initiative to promote women in motor racing.
