2026 Opens with Talent Selection in Tokyo and Racing Action Across the Middle East

To kick off 2026, Porsche Carrera Cup Japan held its first ever Talent Pool Assessment at the Porsche Experience Centre in Tokyo, with eight drivers selected to take part based on their racing CVs. Up to five of them will be selected by the jury to receive support during the 2026 season of Porsche Carrera Cup Japan.

The assessment focuses on both on and off-track workshops to ensure that participants are ready for the new campaign, which will be the first since Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific came onboard as the new partner fully responsible for operating the championship in a strategic collaboration with Porsche Japan K.K..

January also saw the final two rounds of the 2025/26 24H SERIES MIDDLE EAST season with Porsche Carrera Cup Asia drivers in action. 2025 Masters champion Adrian D’Silva drove for EBM, being joined by current Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver and last year’s Porsche Carrera Cup Asia runner-up Enzo Trulli for both rounds in the #61 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The duo, alongside Harry King, completed the Michelin 6H ABU DHABI before unfortunately retiring from the Michelin 24H DUBAI the following weekend after 419 laps, this time with 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion and recently announced Porsche Driver Alessandro Ghiretti and Dorian Boccolacci as their teammates.

In the all-Porsche 992 category, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia regulars Francis Tjia, John Shen and Christian Chia were joined by Benny Simonsen and Philippe Descombes for Modena Motorsports. They showed strong pace in Qualifying, putting the #216 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) eighth on the grid in the competitive 16-car field. In tough and unrelenting conditions, the quintet delivered solid laps around the Dubai Autodrome to finish sixth in the Am-class.

Additionally, Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand and Thailand Super Series announced its provisional calendar, kicking off 2026 at Chang International Circuit in Buriram on 21-24 May. It’s then a trip to Bangsaen on 1-5 July before consecutive rounds at Sepang International Circuit in August and September, with the season finale then taking place back in Buriram on 30 October – 1 November.
