Double victory in Tokyo for the customer teams of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG: Dan Ticktum won Saturday's race of the Tokyo E-Prix of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for Cupra Kiro. Jake Dennis from the Andretti Formula E customer team finished second. This was the second one-two success of its kind for the Porsche customer teams. The premiere had taken place five weeks earlier in Sanya – at that time with Dennis as the winner. For the Porsche Formula E Team, Nico Müller and Pascal Wehrlein failed to score points after collisions. Müller finished in 18th place, Wehrlein did not make it into the classification.

Ticktum started the 36-lap race from 6th place. The Briton worked his way to the front after completing his fast-charging pit stop early and using his Attack Mode. Dennis took the lead in the meantime. On the last lap, Ticktum countered and secured his first win of the season. He also drove the fastest race lap. Dennis had started from pole position and collected the most laps in the lead. Thanks to the points scored by the customer teams, Porsche extended its lead in the manufacturers' standings over Jaguar.

Wehrlein started the race from 8th on the grid. In a collision with a competitor, he damaged his Porsche 99X Electric. The Porsche works driver did not make it into the classification after repairs in the pits. He received a ten-second penalty for the collision.

After an accident in the first qualifying semi-final, Müller's car needed a new chassis. The mechanics of the Porsche Formula E Team rebuilt the 99X in good time: around a minute and a half before the pit exit closed, the Swiss was able to leave the garage. Starting from 4th on the grid, Müller was involved in a collision with the same competitor as Wehrlein on the first lap. An unplanned pit stop was the result. Müller finished the race with a damaged vehicle.

Racing for Charity

Under the motto "Racing for Charity", Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is sending a strong social signal in the current Formula E season and supporting seriously ill children worldwide. For every race lap of the two factory-owned Porsche 99X Electrics, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer will donate 400 euros to the non-profit organisations Kinderherzen retten e.V., Interplast Germany e.V. and the Ferry-Porsche-Stiftung. After Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller completed a total of 60 race laps at the 14th race of the season in Tokyo, the donation amount stands at 362,800 euros.

Comments on the Tokyo E-Prix

Florian Modlinger, Overall Project Manager Formula E: "That was a very disappointing result today. First of all, a big thank you to the entire team for the enormous work between qualifying and the race: getting Nico's car back on the grid after his accident was an immense effort. With Nico on grid position 4 and Pascal on grid position 8, we were well positioned. Unfortunately, both were involved in incidents with the same competitor and missed out on the points. Pascal's car had to be repaired, Nicos checked for contact. Now we have to regroup, focus on tomorrow and come back stronger. Congratulations to our customer teams on their podium finishes. They demonstrated the strong pace of the Porsche packages and extended Porsche's lead in the manufacturers' standings with their results."

Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche works driver (#94): "That was a difficult day, which was basically over after the collision. We repaired the car and tried to continue, but we were outside the points. There are still three races to go and we are still in the fight for the title. That's why we'll keep pushing – from tomorrow."

Nico Müller, Porsche works driver (#51): "A big thank you to all the mechanics and the whole team. They rebuilt the car in time. Thanks to a strong lap in qualifying, we had the chance to start from 4th place. I really wanted to reward the team's work with a podium. However, the contact on the first lap damaged the suspension. We drove on to maybe take something with us. But there were no points today. I'm very sorry for the team that worked so hard. I'm looking forward to getting back in the car tomorrow and hopefully finishing the Tokyo weekend on a positive note."

Porsche in Formula E

As the current Team and Manufacturer World Champion, Porsche will contest its seventh Formula E season in 2025/2026. In addition to the factory-owned Porsche Formula E team, the US customer team Andretti Formula E will compete with the latest-generation Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 Evo. With Cupra Kiro, a second Porsche customer team is taking part, relying on 99X technology from the previous generation GEN3.
