Marco Giltrap crowned 2026 Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia champion

Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia enjoyed an action-packed weekend on the support bill of the Singapore Grand Prix, as Marco Giltrap was crowned the 2026 champion, with Pro-Am, Am and Masters class titles also handed out at the event.

Saturday’s opener was held under the lights, making for a special atmosphere, as Team Porsche New Zealand’s Giltrap lined up on pole position with Rodrigo Dias Almeida (WeTrade X Phantom Global) just behind. Fellow championship contender Marcus Amand started down in 16th after the BWT Shanghai Yonda driver received a 10-place grid penalty for an incident in qualifying.

Giltrap held the lead off the line closely followed by Dias Almeida, with a brilliant battle commencing behind the front two. The returning 2024 champion Alessandro Ghiretti in the Team Carrera Cup Asia by Tempo VIP guest entry enjoyed an excellent duel with Naquib Azlan (Team Porsche Malaysia) and Alex Sawer (Porsche Vietnam) in the early stages.

The Frenchman eventually passed the duo, who made contact later in the race, forcing Azlan to retire, which brought out the Safety Car. In the frantic opening exchanges, Amand made incredible progress, moving up 11 positions to sit in fifth by the end of Lap 4. When racing action went green again, Giltrap held his lead and never yielded, earning an amazing lights-to-flag victory, while VIP guest driver Ghiretti claimed second. Meanwhile, Amand continued his strong performance and on the penultimate lap passed Dias Almeida to snatch the final place on the podium.

In the Pro-Am category, Origine Motorsport’s Bao Jinlong secured a fourth consecutive victory to narrow down Wang Zhongwei’s advantage at the top of the standings. His teammate Adrian Flack marked his series debut by taking second, as Chris Chia continued his run of top three finishes at every race he’s competed in this season for Phantom Global Racing.

Eric Kwong claimed his first win since Fuji Speedway for Bergwerk just 0.577 seconds ahead of BWT X Phantom Global’s Yan Chuang, who picked up his second podium finish of 2026. Henry Kwong completed the top three, but only narrowed Roy Tang’s advantage by three points as the 610 Racing driver finished just behind in fourth. In the Masters class, Adrian D’Silva initially crossed the line first for EBM, but a 15-second penalty for a false start demoted the #61 Porsche 911 Cup (992.2) to fourth.

His championship rival Modena Motorsports’ John Shen claimed the victory, while Jacky Wu (Porsche Own Retail 69 Team) and guest driver Christian Chia (OpenRoad Racing) completed the podium places. Sunday’s race saw hot and humid conditions at Marina Bay Street Circuit, as Giltrap lined up on pole once again, this time with Jaap Van Lagen alongside him for Tempo by Absolute Racing. They remained in that order off the line, while Amand made a storming start, making up two places in the opening corners to sit third.

The Franco-Finn then passed series debutant Van Lagen a lap later before the Safety Car came out for an incident which forced both Dias Almeida and Origine Motorsport’s Ling Kang to retire. On the restart, first and second in the championship were in the same positions on the race track, with Giltrap initially pulling away, before Amand managed to sweep around the outside just before another Safety Car intervention. However, during this period, Amand gave the position back to Giltrap after it was deemed he completed the move off track.

Giltrap held off another wave of Amand pressure at the restart heading onto the final lap, with the New Zealander clinching a double victory and the 2026 Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia title. Amand had to settle for second on-track and in the drivers’ standings, while Van Lagen wrapped up a podium finish.

This weekend’s results mean that BWT Shanghai Yonda retain the Dealer Trophy, with Team Porsche New Zealand in second and Team Jebsen taking third. The Pro-Am category saw Bao and Flack deliver another excellent battle, as the pair finished fifth and sixth overall as well as first and second in class, with Chris Chia rounding out the top three once again. However, Bao’s five consecutive wins to end the campaign wasn’t enough, as Wang Zhongwei claimed the Pro-Am title for Origine Motorsport. Eric Kwong converted his Am-class pole position into a second victory of the weekend, with 610 Racing’s Cao Qikuan coming second. Tang secured third meaning the 610 Racing driver earned the Am crown in his first full Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia campaign.

Finally, the Masters class treated us to more thrilling racing with multiple lead changes across the event, as Christian Chia earned a third victory of the 2026 season. Wu claimed second, while Shen’s third place saw him become the second-ever Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia Masters champion, after Adrian D’Sliva in 2025.

Next up, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific will hold its annual Talent Pool Assessment Test on 22-24 November at Sepang International Circuit.

Marco Giltrap, Team Porsche New Zealand: “It was a brilliant weekend in Singapore as we took a double victory to clinch the Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia title! We continued the great performance we showed last time out in Sepang and everything went to plan. Marcus pushed me all the way and I really had to fight for it. I’m delighted to achieve this result and to conclude the championship in the most incredible way. A massive thanks must go to the team who have helped to achieve this amazing result.”

Wang Zhongwei, Origine Motorsport: “For me this weekend was all about finishing the races and not taking too much risk to make sure I secured the Pro-Am title. This was the first time I had driven at Marina Bay Street Circuit so it was great to gain some experience. It was an amazing season where we enjoyed lots of excellent racing on some of Asia’s best circuits. I would like to thank Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia for making this all possible.”

Roy Tang, 610 Racing: “I knew coming into the final event of the weekend that I needed to finish fourth or higher to take the title. We showed great pace, achieving the fastest lap of the race in the Am class, eventually coming third. It’s been an amazing season and I’ve enjoyed the battles throughout. I’m incredibly proud to become Am-class champion at my home race in Singapore and we’ll see what the future holds.”

John Shen, Modena Motorsports: “2026 was a brilliant year in Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia as I managed to wrap up the Masters title. I’ve taken several victories this season and was able to be in the top three most of the time as well. It was amazing to stand on the podium when supporting the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend. We’ve had some great battles in class throughout and it’s an honour and a dream come true to win the Masters championship. Thanks to the team for always ensuring we had a competitive car during the season at whichever track we went to.”

Alexandre Imperatori, Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia Manager: “It was an action-packed season finale at Marina Bay Street Circuit supporting the Singapore Grand Prix. Congratulations to Marco on winning the 2026 Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia title, it was a great battle between him and Marcus throughout the year, with only 13 points separating them in the end. We also saw titles handed out in the Pro-Am, Am and Masters categories so a massive well done to Wang Zhongwei, Roy Tang and John Shen on their respective success. After the racing action concluded, we hosted our Night of Champions award ceremony, which is a great opportunity to reflect and celebrate what has been an amazing 2026 campaign. Next up for the championship is the Talent Pool Assessment in November at Sepang International Circuit and we’re very much looking forward to it.”
