GT Cup Europe heads to Barcelona for its 2026 season finale which will crown the new champion. Among the key contenders is Ludovico Longoni, driving the No.22 Porsche 992 GT3 Cup. A final effort for the Italian driver, who aims to secure a spot on the overall championship podium.
Across the previous five events, Longoni shared the car with two high-level drivers as Simone Iaquinta and Niccolò Schirò, with whom he won two races and scored three additional podium finishes, taking P3 in the standings. For the Spanish finale, he will be paired with the young rookie Noah Massa, putting also the 25-year-old driver in a new role.
Ludovico Longoni “This weekend we’ll take a different approach, compared to the previous events. Rather than being paired with a pro driver, the team will line up a 17-year-old rookie, whom I’ll also be coaching. It will be a different experience for me, he’s really fast, so let’s see what happens”.
With five podiums from seven finishes, Ludovico has accumulated 73 points in the standings, sitting 30 points off the championship lead. While mathematically still in the hunt for the title, the challenge to win it is really hard.
To bounce back after the retirement in his home race, and to end the season on a high, Longoni’s primary target is to secure an overall top-three championship finish, having completed 2025 as the series runner-up.
“We’re still in contention for the overall title, but it will be tough. There are many points to make up. Even if the math says that it’s still possible and that in motorsport everything can happen, we would probably need a miracle to be crowned champion. Our primary focus is securing second or third place and keeping the overall European podium, which would make this season satisfying. It would be fantastic to repeat that achievement this year”.
As in Monza, Ludovico Longoni will be on track for an extended weekend in Barcelona, starting on Thursday. Two private testing sessions will allow the new ZRS Motorsport pairing to build confidence ahead of the race weekend.
