Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customer teams enjoyed an action-packed weekend in Sepang, with both Thailand Super Series and Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia in attendance, while seven x seven Racing scored points during Round 4 of the 2026 Super GT season at Suzuka.

Thailand Super Series

After trips to Buriram and Bangsaen, the championship crossed the halfway point of the 2026 campaign at the popular Sepang International Circuit. The weekend’s action would see all three Supercar categories competing in the same races, with the opener getting underway on Saturday night under the floodlights. Henk Kiks had made a positive start to the event in the #26 B-Quik Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, making his way up to fourth.

However, before he was able to hand over to teammate Alessandro Ghiretti, he suffered a race ending incident at the last corner. GT4 Drivers’ Championship leaders Dechathorn Phuakkarawut and Kantadhee Kusiri continued their strong form for AAS Motorsport, with Kusiri pulling off an excellent overtake in the closing minutes to snatch the final place on the podium. Meanwhile, R ENGINEERING’s Xu Xin and Elias Seppänen completed their Thailand Super Series debuts finishing fifth in Pro-Am, as Thanapattra Sutthisawang and Kmik Karnasuta crossed the line seventh in the class for AAS Motorsport.

Scorching hot conditions greeted the teams and drivers on Sunday afternoon, in complete contrast to Saturday night’s event in terms of temperatures. Ghiretti delivered an excellent lap to secure pole position and took the wheel for the start, initially dropping back on the opening tour. However, he battled his way to the front and was holding a commanding lead before a puncture forced him into the pit-lane. Kiks would then takeover at the stop but, despite his best efforts, they finished fifth in the GT3 Pro-Am class.

Phuakkarawut and Kusiri scored their fifth consecutive GT4 podium of the season, coming second overall and additionally securing the Pro-Am win to further extend their championship lead heading into the final two weekends.

In the second AAS Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, Sutthisawang and Karnasuta improved on their performance from the opener, earning fifth in Pro-Am, just ahead of Xin and Seppänen in seventh.

The championship now heads to Chang International Circuit for the first of two events there on 31 October – 1 November, before the season finale in December.

Super GT seven x seven Racing scored points during the fourth round of the 2026 Super GT season at Suzuka International Racing Course, competing in the GT300 category. Sven Müller was joined in the #666 Porsche 911 GT3 R for the weekend’s action by Taichi Watarai, making his Super GT debut. He narrowly missed out on advancing to the second part of qualifying on Saturday, meaning the duo would line up 22nd on the grid. Watarai took the wheel for the start of the 52-lap event, making solid progress in the opening stages before handing over to Müller at the end of Lap 16. He continued to show strong pace advancing through the field, moving up to eighth before the car received a drive-through penalty for multiple track limits infringements. This dropped the car back to 14th, which is where they would ultimately finish the event, scoring points for the Japanese outfit.

Super GT now heads to Autopolis on 19-20 September for the fifth round of the 2026 season.

Taichi Watarai, seven x seven Racing: “It was a tough result as we produced a great recovery drive and our pace was good enough to fight for fifth before we picked up the penalty. We’ll learn from this and come back stronger for the next round. I would like to thank the team for giving me this incredible opportunity to make my Super GT debut this weekend.”

Sven Müller, seven x seven Racing: “Unfortunately we didn’t achieve the result we were hoping for as our race pace was solid once again. We could’ve been in the top five without the drive-through penalty, which is a tough pill to swallow, but there are plenty of positives. We were able to further develop the set-up of the car and I enjoyed working with Taichi. Together with the team we’re constantly improving and we’ll see what we can achieve at Autopolis next month.”

Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia

Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia was also in attendance at Sepang International Circuit, hosting an action packed triple header which saw Marco Giltrap and Dylan Pereira take overall victories. Under the floodlights on Saturday night, Team Porsche New Zealand’s Giltrap delivered a controlled drive from pole position to secure the win, followed by home hero Naquib Azlan for Team Porsche Malaysia and 2026 Porsche France Junior Macéo Capietto in the #3 BWT Shanghai Yonda Porsche 911 Cup (992.2).

In the Pro-Am category, six-time champion Bao Jinlong secured his first success of the 2026 season, while 610 Racing’s Roy Tang extended his advantage in the Am-class drivers’ standings with a victory. It was guest driver Christian Chia who took the Masters win for OpenRoad Racing, followed by Modena Motorsports’ John Shen who ensured maximum points.

The first of Sunday’s two races saw Giltrap on pole again, this time alongside current Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia titleholder Pereira. The Luxembourger took the lead on the opening tour and never looked back, securing a dominant win. Rodrigo Dias Almeida (WeTrade x Phantom Global) took maximum points with Pereira being a guest driver and the podium places were completed by Giltrap in third. Bao claimed another Pro-Am victory for Origine Motorsport, while Cao Qikuan ensured Am-class success, with the 610 Racing driver holding off a challenge from Henry and Eric Kwong. Adrian D’Silva came out on top in an excellent Masters battle, securing a win at this home event for EBM.

The final action of the triple-header featured a 43 minute + 1 lap race, including a rolling start. Giltrap once again lined up on pole position and never yielded the lead as he earned a second success of the weekend, ensuring he finished all three events on the podium.

Capietto secured second with the returning Nazim Azman taking third for Origine Motorsport. Bao made it a hat-trick of wins ensuring the Pro-Am championship battle will go to Singapore as he looks to chase down Wang Zhongwei. Cao delivered another impressive result to take another Am-class victory, while D’Silva claimed a second success of the weekend on home soil.

The championship returns for the final rounds of the 2026 season at Marina Bay Street Circuit on 9-11 October, supporting the Singapore Grand Prix.
