Black Sheep Racing Dominates at Sonoma Raceway
Black Sheep Racing delivered a flawless performance this past weekend at their home circuit, Sonoma Raceway, during Round Two of the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West. Competing in the GT3 Cup Masters class, Laura Ely showcased dominant pace throughout the weekend. Ely secured pole position for both races and converted each into victories, completing a clean sweep in front of the home crowd and establishing herself as a championship contender early in the season.
From qualifying through both race sessions, Ely maintained control of the field with consistent lap times and precise execution, capitalizing on her familiarity with the Sonoma circuit to deliver one of the most commanding performances of the weekend. Despite the heavy and consistent rain and slick surface, Ely was the driver to beat all weekend long.
“It is incredibly special to have a weekend like this at Sonoma,” explained Ely as she reflected on the result and the significance of winning at her home track. “This is our home track, and to come away with two poles and two wins is a testament to the hard work from everyone on the team. The car was fantastic all weekend, and everything came together exactly the way we hoped. It is a great feeling, but we are staying focused on keeping this momentum going.”
With a dominant home performance and maximum points secured, the team heads into the next round with confidence and momentum as the championship battle continues. Black Sheep Racing will now turn its attention to Round Three of the Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West, set to take place May 7-9 at Circuit of the Americas.
