Team Joos Sportwagentechnik returns to ADAC GT Masters
Team Joos Sportwagentechnik returns to the traditional GT3 racing series at the Nürburgring event of the ADAC GT Masters.
Comeback at the Nürburgring: Team Joos Sportwagentechnik is returning to the ADAC's long-standing GT3 racing series at the Nürburgring event of the ADAC GT Masters. The team from Vöhringen will be competing in the race weekend in the Eifel with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. Team boss Michael Joos will be joined by Felix Neuhofer at the wheel of the Porsche, who will be making his debut in the series.
‘The start at the Nürburgring is a one-off for now, but we hope that two good races will attract sponsors and partners who can enable us to make further starts in this year's ADAC GT Masters season,’ explains Michael Joos. ‘The decision to participate at the Nürburgring was made at very short notice just a few days ago, which is why we are all the more delighted that we managed to put together the programme for the guest start.’
The ADAC GT Masters has become a motorsport home for Team Joos Sportwagentechnik. The Porsche team first took part in the popular racing series in 2020 and has achieved many strong results since then. In 2022, future DTM ace Ayhancan Güven and veteran Christian Engelhart finished runners-up in the team's Porsche, narrowly missing out on the title. The team was also in contention for the title for much of the following year with Sven Müller and Finn Gehrsitz.
28-year-old Austrian Felix Neuhofer will make his ADAC GT Masters debut in the Eifel. Last year, the Munich-born driver won the 24-hour race in Portimão in a 911 GT3 R, so he is familiar with the car. He also gained a wealth of experience in the Porsche one-make series and competed in the German Carrera Cup. He scored several class victories in the Porsche Sports Cup Germany.
"The ADAC GT Masters debut is a real milestone for me – but I'm not here just to take part. I want to show what I can do, fight, push and assert myself. The series is tough, but that's exactly what motivates me – I'm up for tough battles, close qualifying sessions and full-throttle races,‘ explains Neuhofer ahead of his debut in the racing series. ’My goal: to shake up the field, make no mistakes – and prove that I belong in this league. Thanks to the team for the opportunity – I'm ready."
Michael Joos, who leads the team with his father Hans Joos, has already competed in selected races in the ADAC GT Masters in 2015, 2020 and 2023. Together with Christian Engelhart, he celebrated a victory in the ‘Super Sports Car League’ at the Red Bull Ring in 2023. Joos also demonstrated his driving talent with overall victory in the 2020 24 Hours of Portimão. He has also competed in the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps – the world's largest GT race – and the 24h Dubai. The Joos racing team finished a strong second in the GT3 Pro-Am class at the endurance race in the United Arab Emirates in 2022.
"I am very happy to be returning to the ADAC GT Masters. I first competed in the series in 2015, back then in a BMW Z4 GT3. We have been competing in the championship with our own team since 2020 and have achieved some great results since then. In Felix, I have a strong teammate who also knows the Porsche 911 GT3 R, and I am confident that we can put in two strong races at the Nürburgring," explains Joos.
The ADAC GT Masters will take place at the Nürburgring as part of the Truck GP in front of more than 100,000 spectators. The two races in front of the impressive backdrop have established themselves as one of the highlights of the season in recent years. The racing series will complete two endurance races, each lasting 80 minutes, on the traditional Eifel circuit. Two mandatory pit stops with driver changes are required during the races. The teams must also refuel and change tyres. The two races will start at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The two races and the qualifying sessions on the respective mornings will be broadcast live worldwide on the official livestream on YouTube. In addition, both races will be rebroadcast on pay-TV channel Sky Sport Mix on Saturday and Sunday from 10 p.m.
‘Special thanks go to my sponsors MudEx, Heim Bohrtechnik, Klimmer Group, Sonic Equipment, Ravenol, KSM Sport Marketing, Berzerkdesign, LCE High Performance and von Busch for supporting us in making our debut at the Nürburgring,’ concludes Michael Joos.
