Andrew Rackstraw returns to scene of maiden Porsche Carrera Cup GB race win as Pro series leader

Andrew Rackstraw returns to Thruxton, the scene of his maiden Porsche Carrera Cup GB race win last year, this weekend leading the UK’s fastest single-make series – and intent on extending that advantage in his Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport team Porsche Carrera 911 GT3 Cup car.

The 23-year old Capetonian took the Pro series lead after a stunning performance last time out at Snetterton, and he’s eager to continue that good run in Rounds 5 and 6 on 7/8 June before the series heads into a short summer break.

Home to the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC), one of the largest motor racing clubs in the UK with its origins dating back to 1912, the 2.35 mile Thruxton circuit has the highest average speed of any track visited by the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

With all the cars on the grid identical spec 911 GT3s, Andrew heads to the Hampshire track full of confidence – and in the knowledge that he and his Rosland Gold/Investchem/Sparco-backed Porsche excel on high-speed circuits.

“I can’t wait to get rounds five and six of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB underway,” says Andrew.

“The last time I raced at Thruxton I won my first ever Porsche Carrera Cup GB race, and now I’m going back as championship leader!

“It has always been a very special circuit for me – such a high-speed drivers’ track which I love.

“It’s been a good start to the series and I’m looking forward to maximising this momentum.

“The target for Thruxton is to score as many championship points as possible, so let’s go and get some more podiums!”
