Best record in individual races and highest number of fastest laps for Porsche ahead of Jakarta
Temperatures in excess of 30 degrees, humidity above 70 percent, street circuit: Jakarta is one of the toughest venues on the Formula E calendar – for man and machine. In similarly muggy and partly rainy conditions, Porsche recently gained valuable experience in Tokyo and Shanghai – and world championship points. The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team starts the final push of the season as frontrunner in the teams’ standings. An impressive haul for fastest race laps has also contributed to the return to the top of the championship standings: World Champion Pascal Wehrlein and teammate António Félix da Costa have bagged five additional points with the highly efficient Porsche 99X Electric from this to date – more than any other duo in the field. Among the manufacturers, Porsche has six fastest race laps – also a record in the field.
Unlike at the previous three race weekends, only one race is on the schedule for Jakarta. The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team has been particularly successful in the single-headers so far: securing five of the six available podiums. No other team has enjoyed more success at the three appearances in São Paulo, Mexico City, and Miami.
Porsche record in Jakarta
There have been three races in the Indonesian metropolis to date. Formula E’s most recent trip to Jakarta was two years ago and was a great success from Porsche’s perspective: Pascal Wehrlein celebrated victory ahead of Jake Dennis in the Saturday race. In the second race of the then double-header, Dennis secured second place in Andretti’s Porsche customer car, while Wehrlein finished sixth. Da Costa crossed the finish line P8 on Saturday and P7 on Sunday, which saw him finish in the points in both races.
Temporary street circuit near the coast
The Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit is a temporary street circuit that runs through the north of the Indonesian capital near the coast. The 2.370-kilometre track has 18 turns and is characterised by two longer straights and a flowing middle section with fast changes of direction. The final sector with the narrow hairpin and a difficult left-hand turn is particularly challenging (turn 18). The braking zone going into the first turn is a great place to overtake.
Wehrlein and da Costa in action in Le Mans
For Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa, the Jakarta E-Prix is the second highlight within a week. Last weekend the two Porsche factory drivers contested the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At his Le Mans debut, Wehrlein took the wheel of the Porsche 963 alongside Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy, and finished in P9 in the top class. Da Costa raced for a privateer team and finished ninth in the LMP2 class.

Comments on the Jakarta E-Prix
Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E: “Jakarta has a very interesting racetrack with a variety of challenges. It can get extremely hot there, but it can also rain. Which means that we need to be ready for anything. We have practiced a whole host of scenarios in the simulator and feel prepared for a challenging race.”
Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche factory driver (#1): “I’m really looking forward to Jakarta. It’s a very cool track in extreme conditions. It’s always incredibly hot there, which is difficult for both drivers and cars. The Shanghai weekend taught us how to handle the tyres better when they are put under heavy strain.”
António Félix da Costa, Porsche factory driver (#13): “I have good memories of Jakarta, so I’m really looking forward to it. We’re entering the final third of the season now, have regained the lead in the team standings, and will be focussing on picking up further valuable points here.”
Porsche in Formula E
2024/2025 sees Porsche contest its sixth Formula E season. In addition to the factory TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, American customer team Andretti Formula E is entering the Porsche 99X Electric of the latest GEN3 Evo generation. With the addition of Cupra Kiro, this season will be the first time that a second Porsche customer team has entered the series; they will be using 99X technology of the previous GEN3 generation. Formula E gives the brand valuable insights for its production sports cars.
