Black Sheep Racing Claims Championship at Laguna Seca

Black Sheep Racing closed out the 2026 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West season in dominant fashion this past weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with driver and team owner Laura Ely sweeping the GT3 Cup 992 Masters class and securing the championship title.

Fielding a single entry for the season finale, Black Sheep Racing entered the weekend with Ely leading the GT3 Cup 992 Masters championship standings. The team left Laguna Seca with the championship firmly secured after Ely delivered a perfect weekend on track.

Ely began the weekend by securing pole position for both races, putting Black Sheep Racing at the front of the Masters field for each of the weekend’s final contests. She converted both pole positions into victories, earning back-to-back wins and completing a clean sweep of the season finale.

The double victory capped off an impressive championship campaign for Ely and Black Sheep Racing, with the team consistently delivering strong performances throughout the season. The Laguna Seca sweep provided the perfect conclusion as Ely added the GT3 Cup 992 Masters championship title to her 2026 accomplishments.

“It is hard to put into words what this weekend and this championship mean to me,” said Laura Ely, driver and team owner of Black Sheep Racing. “To come into the finale, earn both poles, win both races, and come away with the championship is an incredible way to finish the season. I am so proud of everyone who has been part of Black Sheep Racing this year.”

Ely added, “There have been a lot of long days, hard work, and challenges along the way, and to see it all come together at Laguna Seca makes it even more special. I cannot thank everyone who supported us enough, and I am excited to celebrate this one before we start thinking about what comes next.”

With the 2026 season officially complete, Black Sheep Racing will now take a well-deserved break before turning its attention toward preparation for the 2027 racing season. After a championship-winning campaign, the team will look to carry its momentum into another year of competition.
