Jones dominates at QR

Harri Jones has extended his championship lead with a clean sweep for round 3 of Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia at Queensland Raceway.

The McElrea Racing driver led from start to finish in the second and final race of the weekend, leading home TekworkX Motorsport’s Clay Osborne by 3.5 seconds.

EMA Motorsport’s David Russell rounded out the top 3, with Dylan O’Keeffe & Jake Santalucia coming home in fourth and fifth respectively.

Jones’ dominance means he now has a 56-point lead in the championship over Osborne.

Osborne still managed second for the round with Russell third.

Lachlan Bloxsom’s day finished early in race 2 after he was turned around at turn 3 on the opening lap. He was stranded in the middle of the road before being collected by multiple cars. It produced the only safety car of the race.

Tom Bewley was out to recover his tough DNF on Saturday, but copped a 15-second time penalty for contact on Lap 11 that spun Aaron Love around at Turn 6.

Josh Thomas was sixth, Sonic Racing’s Angelo Mouzouris and Marcos Flack were seventh and eighth, while Ryan Casha and Daniel Quimby completed the top 10.

In Tech Specialist Pro-Am, Andrew Georgiadis clinched his maiden race win in the category, backing up his Pole Position for Race 1.

In just his fifth start, the Queenslander lead home Jacque Jarjo, Rodney Jane, Liam Talbot and Matt Slaivn to complete the top 5.

Georgiadis would also go on to claim his first round victory, completing a personal best weekend for the TekworkX Motorsport driver.

Jarjo finished 2nd for the round, whilst Liam Talbot’s win yesterday and 4th place today was enough to secure 3rd in Pro-Am for the weekend.

Attention now turns to Round 4 of Porsche Equity-One Carrera Cup Australia at Tailem Bend, September 11-13.
