Half a million in prize money for Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia teams

Swedish Championship gold and SEK 500,000 in prize money! The teams in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia will compete for that this season. "We are pleased that the Swedish Automobile Sports Association is joining us in our efforts to raise the status of the teams in Swedish racing," says Thomas Johansson, the championship's sporting director.

Ahead of the 2022 season, the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation (SBF) made the decision to award Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia the official status of Swedish Championship in track racing for drivers in the GT car category. Since then, Lukas Sundahl (2022, 2024), Ola Nilsson (2023) and Daniel Ros (2025) have received their gold medals in festive forms at the Bilsport Gala.

From this year, the drivers in the championship will compete for another Swedish Championship gold – the one for teams. Recently, SBF's board of directors, on the recommendation and approval of the federation's racing committee, said yes to Porsche's application to give the series' team championship Swedish Championship status.

"The basis for the decision is, among other things, a good and rewarding collaboration with the organization behind the series and that Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia meets all the requirements we have for a championship, which can bring Swedish Championship status, in this case for teams," says Claes Elofsson, chairman of SBF's racing committee.

The fact that a team championship in a single racing class is awarded Swedish Championship status is, according to Elofsson, unique.

"At least I have no concrete memory of it happening before," he says.

Not even STCC had SM status at its team championship during its heyday.

To give further weight to the team championship, Porsche Sweden is investing SEK 500,000 in prize money, an increase of SEK 350,000 compared to 2025. This year's team champion will sign off on SEK 250,000. The silver medalists receive SEK 150,000 and the bronze medalists SEK 100,000.

"With these measures, we want to raise the status of the teams and their crucial importance for national racing at the top level. Without a team, there is no racing and therefore we are happy that SBF wants to join us in this venture, says Thomas Johansson.

With Swedish Championship status and half a million kronor to compete for, the management of Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia and SBF hope that the investment will have many positive effects.

"One is of course that we will get more teams in Swedish elite racing. It feels very positive and will be incredibly interesting and exciting to follow the development," says Elofsson.
In 2025, Fragus Motorsport became team champion ahead of M3G Motorsport and Micke Kågered Racing.
