Porsche Carrera Cup North America Races in Montreal Saw Five Different Drivers Hoist Winner Trophy
The Canadian Grand Prix hosted a pair of Porsche Carrera Cup North America races at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, June 14-15, with five different class winners emerging in the pair of races. Ryan Yardley (New Zealand) and Riley Dickinson (New Braunfels, Texas) shared overall and Exxon Mobil Pro-class victories in the premier one-make series in North America. James Sofronas (Villa Park, California) and JP Martinez (Miami, Florida) earned Solairus Pro-Am class wins, while Scott Blind (Fenton, Missouri) swept both 40-minute races in the Solairus Masters class.
Montreal. Race 1. Saturday. June 14, 2025.
After finishing second in three of the first four races to open the season, Ryan Yardley started his No. 78 Topp Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on pole position, then held off championship leader Riley Dickinson for a 1.684-second victory. The win is Yardley’s first of the season, and fourth of his career.
Dickinson used his No. 91 Kellymoss Porsche to turn the quickest lap of the race on lap 18 of 25 as the pair took advantage of their front row starting positions to pull away from the rest of the field and finished in the same order as the race began.
Canada’s Zachary Vanier earned a podium at his home Grand Prix after starting fifth in the No. 9 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Vanier briefly dropped back to sixth before moving around Tyler Maxson and Jimmy Llibre in the opening laps to set up a multi-corner battle with Yves Baltas. Vanier succeeded in passing Baltas on lap eight and held the position to the finish for his podium.
GMG Racing teammates James Sofronas and Patrick Mulcahy, joined by ACI Motorsports’ JP Martinez, raced for the Pro-Am win just outside of the top 10 overall. Martinez briefly moved in front of Sofronas, but Sofronas battled back and earned the Saturday victory. Scott Blind earned his fourth Masters win of the season in his Ruckus Racing Porsche.
Race 2. Sunday. June 15, 2025.
Matching Saturday, Sunday’s race ran caution-free for the duration of the 40-minute race. At the end, Riley Dickinson flipped the script on Ryan Yardley and claimed his third win of the season.
Dickinson drove his No. 91 Kellymoss Porsche 911 GT3 Cup past Yardley on lap three, but Yardley didn’t let him go quietly. The ensuing battle brought Jimmy Llibre’s No. 2 ACI Motorsports Porsche into the mix, but Dickinson was able to break the train and ease away from the field. At the end of 40 minutes, Dickinson was 3.264 seconds in front of Yardley and had claimed the bonus point for fastest lap of the race.
Zachary Vanier clinched his second-consecutive podium finish at his home country race, standing on the Formula 1® rostrum on back-to-back days. Vanier started fifth, moving forward before passing Llibre at the midpoint of the race to hold third.
The Pro-Am field had a shakeup on Sunday when Patrick Mulcahy’s No. 54 GMG Racing Porsche started ahead of Saturday winner James Sofronas and class point leader JP Martinez. Martinez drove his No. 4 ACI Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup around both rivals early in the race, then battled with Mulcahy to the finish. Just 0.074 separated the pair at the checkered flag, with Martinez coming in front of Mulcahy for his third win of the season. Blind dropped behind Scott Parriott early in the Masters battle but rallied back for his fifth win in six races to open the season.

Highlights.
Formula One Stars. James Sofronas continued his mastery of Porsche Carrera Cup North America wins during F1 Grand Prix events. Of his seven career wins in the Championship, five have come at Miami International Autodrome, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve or Circuit of the Americas on Grand Prix weekends. He was the first driver to win his class at all three events, joined this weekend by Riley Dickinson. Dickinson is the first to win at all three events overall following sweeps at Miami and Austin during his championship season of 2023.
Porsche Mobil 1 Female Driver Program Progress. Two of the three drivers participating in the Porsche Mobil 1 Female Driver Program earned their best finishes of the 2025 season in Montreal. JDX Racing teammates Sabré Cook and Madeline Stewart took steps forward in Canada, with Cook finishing ninth on Saturday and Stewart 14th overall. Kellymoss’ Ashley Freiberg recovered from contact that ended her day after just one lap on Saturday to finish 11th on Sunday. Freiberg has two top 10 finishes this season.
One Impressive Run. Aaron Jeansonne failed to post a time during Saturday morning’s qualifying and started that afternoon’s race from the rear of the 24-car field. Undeterred, Jeansonne drove his No. 24 Kellymoss Porsche through the field to finish sixth in the race. His best lap allowed him to start Sunday’s race from 10th on the grid, where he finished seventh.

Quotes
Ryan Yardley, No. 78 Topp Racing. Pro Winner, Race 1
“He definitely closed up with about 10 to go there. I knew it was going to be a tough fight. It always is with Riley. It was nice to lead from start to finish. Thanks to everyone at Topp Racing for a fast car. It’s awesome to get a win here in Canada. My parents were here to see me race for the first since 2023, so that was special.”
Riley Dickinson, No. 91 Kellymoss. Pro Winner, Race 2
“It was a hard-fought battle with Ryan the whole race. Yesterday was very, very tough as well and I need to give him a huge amount of credit for what he did yesterday and of course, today. He put down a great lap in qualifying, which set him up well for the rest of the weekend and I know it’s going to be a hard-fought battle as well next week at Watkins Glen, which I’m looking forward to.”
James Sofronas, No. 14 GMG Racing, Pro-Am Winner, Race 1
“Big crowds, big excitement, and the team really steps up. What better event to really push hard and get on the top step to get on the F1 podium. There are some killer incentives, but we’re pushing every weekend. It was really a team effort, and the car was spot on. The GMG guys killed it.”
JP Martinez, No. 4 ACI Motorsports, Pro-Am Winner, Race 2
“It felt amazing. Patrick started first, I started second today, he made a mistake, I capitalized on it. It was a great race. He was behind me about a second the whole entire time and it came down to the last lap, the last straight away. I’m super happy with that.”
Scott Blind, No. 45 Ruckus Racing. Masters Winner, Races 1 and 2
“We weren’t all that happy with our pace on Saturday and needed to do better today. When I got up to Todd (Parriott), I thought we were in a bad hockey match. Coming out of the last turn on the straight, he took me all the way to the inside of the boards. I thought we were going to slide down the glass and that would be that. But yeah, I got around him and we had good pace today. We fixed it from yesterday, so it was a good day except for the penalty.”
