Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti claims the 2025 Supercup title

Alessandro Ghiretti has been crowned the winner of the 2025 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Competing for Equipe Schumacher CLRT, the 23-year-old Frenchman secured the title with a second-place finish in the season finale at Monza. Dutchman Wouter Boerekamps (Team GP Elite) won the final race ahead of Ghiretti and Mathys Jaubert (Martinet by Alméras). In a race packed with thrills and spills, which was shortened after an interruption, Robert de Haan crossed the line in fourth place. Porsche Junior Oeverhaus concluded the Supercup season with an impressive sixth place.

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup signed off for the winter break with a truly spectacular race. On the high-speed Monza circuit, 28 drivers in their 375 kW (510 PS) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars fought thrilling battles on the absolute limit. In the end, Wouter Boerekamps kept his cool amid the melee and secured his first Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup victory. “I knew after qualifying that we had what it takes to win here,” said the 30-year-old Dutchman, who races for Team GP Elite. “I had a great start and decided to take the outside line into the first chicane – that worked out really well. Unfortunately, the red flags came out. Nevertheless, I was confident I could get back to the front, and that’s exactly what happened. Because the guys behind me were battling so hard, I was able to eke out a small gap. The team put a perfect Porsche on the track for me today, which enabled me to control the race. Although the season had some lows, it’s fantastic to end this year on the top step of the podium. We now know that we can compete with the very fastest drivers, and I’m thrilled about that.”

The Schumacher CLRT camp had even more reason to celebrate. Starting from second on the grid, Alessandro Ghiretti once again displayed his trademark composure. Although he briefly slipped back two positions, the 23-year-old Frenchman remained unfazed: second place was enough for this season’s three-time race winner to secure the 2025 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup title. “To be honest, I’m happy about the title, but not about my race,” admitted Ghiretti. “I made a few mistakes today. After the restart, I flat spotted a tire when braking for the Ascari chicane, which made it difficult to finish the race. I lost two places at one point, but fortunately I was able to regain them and cross the line in second. I would have liked to win, but I held back in some situations so as not to jeopardise the title. I’m all the happier that it worked out. Now, of course, the prevailing feeling is the joy of having achieved it. I’d like to thank my Schumacher CLRT team for their hard work.”

Third place went to Hungarian winner Mathys Jaubert. The Martinet by Alméras driver also described the race as turbulent: “It was really tricky because I didn’t want to get involved in the title fight. The red flag worked in my favour, as I had messed up the start quite badly. After the restart, things really heated up at the front. I’m very happy to finish the season on the podium. We managed to improve over the course of the year, proven by the victory in Hungary along with this third-place result.”

Right from the start, the 28-strong field of 28 Porsche 911 treated fans to plenty of drama. On the opening lap, Gus Burton and Hjelte Hoeffner made contact at the Variante della Roggia, while Jaap van Lagen and Horst Felix Felbermayr collided at the first Lesmo corner. All four drivers were forced to retire. With Felbermayr’s and van Lagen’s Proton-Huber cars lodged in the barriers, race director Peter Roberts had no choice but to halt proceedings with a red flag.

Fortunately for Marvin Klein, the poleman had already ceded his lead to quick starters Boerekamp and Ghiretti before the first chicane. Around 20 minutes later, the race resumed behind the safety car in qualifying order, with Ghiretti immediately overtaking Klein. The Frenchman from Team BWT Lechner Racing also had to let Boerekamps and Jaubert pass him. Shortly afterwards, Klein squeezed past Jaubert again off the track markings. He later received a three-second penalty for this infringement.

Meanwhile, Boerekamps set his sights on leader Ghiretti and managed to pull clear of the fiercely battling pack behind. Robert de Haan also turned heads with his unrelenting attacks. Starting from tenth on the grid, the Monaco winner (BWT Lechner Racing) picked off one opponent after another and finished in fourth position. This secured the BWT Lechner Racing driver the runner-up spot in the championship.

Oeverhaus was satisfied with sixth place: “My race went well; the pace was good. Robert’s move on the last lap was rather unnecessary; he drove into the side of my rear at the exit of the second chicane and pushed me into the wall. Fortunately, the car held up. P6 is a consoling way to end a mixed season, even though we had a bit of bad luck here again. I don’t think I’ve ever had as many accidents as this year. But I’m learning from it and want to make the best of it next season.”

Meanwhile, Ghiretti lost two positions to Klein and Jaubert after a minor driving error before the Parabolica curve, but immediately regained them, securing the championship titles for himself and his team. This also delighted his team boss, Côme Ledogar. “Winning as a team boss is almost even more rewarding than it was in the cockpit – though certainly more difficult,’ said the former racing driver, whose Schumacher CLRT squad successfully defended last year’s championship crown with Larry ten Voorde. “I can only thank my drivers, all the members of my team, Porsche and our partners. I’m incredibly proud that we have won the title for the second time in a row. Success is the product of hard work but it was definitely worth it.’

Oliver Schwab, Project Manager of the Porsche Supercup, also had to take a deep breath after the race: “No one could complain about a lack of action today. The spectators at the track and the fans watching on TV were treated to plenty of spectacle. This race was a thrilling conclusion to an equally thrilling season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – with a worthy champion in Alessandro Ghiretti and a worthy championship team in Schumacher CLRT, which claimed all three titles. This finale also marks the retirement of the 992.1 model variant of our Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. We’re now looking forward to the new Porsche 911 Cup, with which the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will continue delivering thrilling racing in the 2026 season.”
