The DTM spectators at the Red Bull Ring watched a thrilling third round of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland from the grandstands. Porsche Junior Marcus Amand (FIN/Proton Competition) won on Saturday ahead of his teammate Keagan Masters from South Africa. 23-year-old Alexander Tauscher (Target) from Mitterfels in Bavaria crossed the finish line in third place. Amand received the winner's trophy from Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport, on the official podium and was delighted in the subsequent interview: "It's great for me to win at the Red Bull Ring. It was a close race and I really had to fight. The key moment was in my start, where I was able to pass pole-sitter Alexander Tauscher."

In front of an Austrian Alpine backdrop with snow-capped mountains, 30 drivers took to the starting grid in their new, 520 hp Porsche 911 Cup. Immediately after the lights went out, things got hot in sunshine and temperatures of 20 degrees: Amand overtook Tauscher in the first few metres and took the lead. In the places behind him, there were numerous position changes and close door-to-door duels. Masters, who started the 30-minute race from fourth on the grid, worked his way up to third place on lap three and tried to put pressure on the swapper in front of him. On lap eight, he overtook the German. Two safety car phases brought the field closer together, but Amand defended his top position at both restarts. When Masters blew to attack for first place with three laps to go, he lost out to Amand. After 20 laps of racing, however, the Porsche Junior triumphed by a razor-thin margin of 0.168 seconds. After three of 16 races, Masters jumped to first place in the overall standings with his performance and the resulting 56 points. "Third podium in the third race is of course great. It was a hot battle with Marcus and really close in the final result," explained Masters, who has already secured the champion's crown in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia twice.

Behind the top 3 Amand, Masters and Tauscher, Dutchman Niels Langeveld, who drives laptime performance for the new Carrera Cup Team, finished fourth. Talent Pool driver Matheus Ferreira (Team GP Elite) from Brazil took the chequered flag in fifth place after an impressive fightback. After the start, he steadily worked his way up from 16th place. Louis Perrot (F/Forch Racing by Atlas Ward) and Gustav Burton (UK/Forch Racing by Atlas Ward) entered the results list in sixth and seventh place. Sören Spreng (D/Team GP Elite) secured victory in the ProAm classification.

Round four of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will be held on Sunday at 11:35 hrs. A summary of the race will be broadcast by the TV channel ProSieben at 12:55 hrs immediately before the start of the DTM coverage. The entire race action can be followed via live stream on YouTube, Facebook and in the Porsche Motorsport Hub.
