Champions lead the championship standings after the season opener

The only champions in the field were the ones found at the top of the standings after this year’s opening round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. At the former Formula 1 circuit Scandinavian Raceway in Anderstorp, reigning champion Daniel Ros and six-time champion Lukas Sundahl both collected 42 points.

Ros followed up a third-place finish in the opening heat with victory in the second race. Sundahl secured two second-place finishes in his championship comeback. Ros, competing for Fragus Motorsport, is entered for the full season. However, it remains unclear whether we will see Sundahl again. Was his appearance in the season opener a one-off, or will there be more starts this season for Fragus Motorsport’s driver coach?

Marcus Annervi, whose 2024 season finale was ruined by illness, also made a comeback appearance. His return was successful as well — with a victory in the first race and a fourth-place finish in the second. Following the strong start, which places him third in the standings, Mtech Competition team principal Magnus Karlsson announced immediately after the finish that Annervi will also compete in the second round, the Gelleråsloppet in Karlskoga on May 30–31.

Behind the successful trio of Ros, Sundahl, and Annervi, Gustav Bergström also enjoyed a strong opening weekend for M3G Motorsport at a sunny and early-summer-warm Scandinavian Raceway. Fifth and third places in the two races put him fourth in the championship standings, nine points ahead of William Siverholm, who endured a difficult opening weekend. Other highly rated drivers who had a challenging start to the season included Emil Persson (7th–6th), Gustav Krogh (6th–DNF), and Theo Jernberg (12th–DNF).

In the Pro AM class, the spectators witnessed two different winners. The opening heat was won by reigning champion Albin Wärnelöv ahead of Prince Carl Philip and newcomer Per Anderson. In the second race, Anderson triumphed after Prince Carl Philip was forced to retire and Wärnelöv narrowly avoided being caught up in the crash that caused both Krogh and Jernberg to retire.

In the support class of the Porsche Sprint Challenge, young newcomers Maximilian Egfors and Alex Gustafsson each won one heat.
