Sunshine and temperatures of more than 30 degrees Celsius created hot conditions at the Nürburgring for the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. In the 13th race of the season on Saturday, Robert de Haan (NL/Proton Competition) powered his 520 PS Porsche 911 Cup to victory in the Eifel heat.

Alexander Tauscher (D/Target) crossed the finish line in second, with Porsche Junior Marcus Amand (FIN/Forch Racing by Atlas Ward) taking third place. Defending champion de Haan received the trophy from Bastian Schramm, Head of Marketing Porsche Germany. Two title contenders failed to score points: Keagan Masters (ZA/Proton Competition) made contact with Theo Oeverhaus (D/ID Racing), received two penalty laps and crossed the line in 16th. The resulting spin dropped Oeverhaus almost to the back of the field, and he was classified 18th.

Pole-sitter de Haan immediately took the lead of the 32-car field at the start, with Tauscher and Amand slotting in behind him. After the fourth lap, a lengthy safety car phase followed as a car had to be recovered from deep in the gravel trap. “Because of the heat, sweat was running into my eyes at times and I was a little concerned when the safety car brought everyone back together. But in the end, I’m happy with the victory and my performance,” de Haan sums up his race. De Haan also set the fastest lap of the race. At the end of the season, the “Fastest Lap Award” will be presented together with a timepiece from Porsche Design: The driver with the most fastest race laps will receive a “Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition”.

The 20-year-old Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring (NL/Schumacher CLRT) finished just outside the top three. Dirk Schouten (NL/Looping by CarTech) secured fifth place on the 3.629-kilometre sprint circuit ahead of Chester Kieffer (L/Schumacher CLRT), who collected the trophy as the best Rookie. Caleb Sumich (AUS/Target) finished seventh, with Sam Jongejan (NL/Team75 Bernhard) in eighth. In the ProAm classification, Michael Essmann (D/Team75 Bernhard) prevailed over Samer Shahin (AUS/GP Elite) and guest driver Georg Griesemann (D/Looping by CarTech).

This weekend, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland welcomes several drivers from other one-make series: Milan Marczak (Team Proton) from Poland, champion of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe, made his debut in the German one-make series at the Nürburgring. Sweden’s Lukas Sundahl, a six-time Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia champion, also competed for Team Proton. David Dziwok from Poland normally races in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux and got his first taste of Eifel action with GP Elite. Matyas Faiereisl (ID Racing) from the Czech Republic, who competes in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Central Europe this year, also made his Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland debut at the Nürburgring.

The 14th race of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland season gets underway at 11:08 (CEST) on Sunday. Following the results of race 13, the top of the overall standings has tightened up with three races remaining: Masters leads on 197 points, ahead of Schuring (196 points), Tauscher (185 points) and Oeverhaus (175 points). A total of 75 points are still up for grabs across the final three races.
