Double podium for Porsche by Wehrlein and Cupra Kiro
In Sunday's race of the Tokyo E-Prix of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, all three Porsche teams took top positions.
The current world champion Pascal Wehrlein secured his third podium finish of the season in second place and thus also moved up to 2nd place in the drivers' standings. Dan Ticktum in the Porsche 99X Electric WCG3 finished third. He placed the Porsche customer car of Cupra Kiro on the podium for the first time. Former world champion Jake Dennis from the second Porsche customer team, Andretti Formula E, crossed the finish line in fourth place.
Wehrlein and Ticktum led the race for a long time, while the German fought for victory until the end. Ticktum ultimately celebrated the first Formula E podium of his career. The 99X Electric WCG3 from Cupra Kiro is powered by the Porsche technology that won two world championship titles in the past two seasons. The factory-owned TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team and Andretti Formula E both rely on the current-generation Porsche 99X Electric.
Wehrlein's teammate António Félix da Costa did not finish. He retired after a collision in the early stages. Until then, he had been close behind the leading group.
After the second Tokyo race, three Porsche drivers – Wehrlein, da Costa and Dennis – are currently in the top 5 of the drivers' world championship.

Comments on the Tokyo E-Prix
Florian Modlinger, Director Formula E: "All in all, a very strong result for Porsche with three cars in the top 4. Thanks to Dan Ticktum, it was also the first podium finish for the Porsche championship-winning car of the past two seasons. Congratulations to Cupra Kiro. Congratulations also to Jake Dennis on fourth place. Pascal took 2nd place after fighting for victory the whole race. It was a very well-executed race by the entire team – with more energy than the leader and a safety car in the final laps. A big thank you to everyone. We'll try to be even stronger with both cars in Shanghai. Unfortunately, António did not finish today. He was in 6th place and could have finished in the top five."
Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche works driver (#1): "We finished the race with 2nd place on the podium. In the end, it was very close. We were in a difficult situation because we lacked a bit of attack mode at the end. I tried to defend myself. There was enough energy, but then the safety car came. On the one hand, I'm very happy with second place after yesterday's tough day, but on the other hand, I really wanted to win."
António Félix da Costa, Porsche works driver (#13): "Not an easy day for me. Today I have to apologize for a mistake. The race went quite well at first. I was able to make up a few places and was just outside the top 5. In the full-course yellow phase, when everyone had to brake to 50 km/h, I misjudged and touched the car in front of me. That was enough to damage my suspension. I apologize to the team and everyone at home. But we are still well on our way. Next up is Shanghai. We won there last year. That's why I'm very confident. We will reposition ourselves and get podiums in Shanghai."
