Double victory for the Schumacher CLRT team at the Norisring

The comeback of the Carrera Cup at the Norisring after a six-year break began with a commanding lights-to-flag victory for Flynt Schuring: The 19-year-old Dutchman won the first race on the street circuit in Nuremberg.

The younger brother of Porsche DTM driver Morris Schuring prevailed over his Schumacher CLRT teammate Alessandro Ghiretti. With second place, the Porsche Junior from France extended his lead in the one-make cup with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Robert de Haan crossed the finish line in third place. The Dutchman from the Proton Huber Competition team thus remains second in the overall standings.

Flynt Schuring, a member of the talent pool of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, built up a lead of almost four seconds in the first laps. However, a safety car phase nullified this advantage. "After the restart, I couldn't pull away again. Alessandro put me under a lot of pressure in the second half of the race," commented the Dutchman on his second win of the season. "It's something special to win on my debut here at the Norisring." With this result, Schuring moved up to third place in the overall standings.

"Flynt was just too fast for me today. But I'm happy with second place and I've extended my lead in the standings, and it's also a super result for Schumacher CLRT," summed up Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti. Robert de Haan's summary was similar: "I tried everything to drive Alessandro into a mistake – but unfortunately it didn't work," admitted the third-placed driver. Behind de Haan, his Dutch compatriot Huub van Eijndhoven (Team GP Elite) crossed the finish line. Fifth place went to Porsche Junior Theo Oeverhaus (Bonk Motorsport) from Germany, who was able to keep Kas Haverkort (Team GP Elite) at bay.

In the rookies, Sacha Norden continued his winning streak. The 24-year-old Dutchman won the Carrera Cup beginners' classification for the fifth time this season. Nevertheless, the Proton Huber Competition driver was not entirely satisfied: "Of course I'm proud of the rookie victory, but I would have liked to have moved further up the overall standings," admitted Norden, who crossed the finish line in thirteenth place. The rookie podium was completed by Norden's British teammate Joe Warhurst and Brazilian Matheus Ferreira from Team Target.

Michael Schrey secured victory in the ProAm classification for the third time this season. "My little daughter Emma has cheered me on once again, she is slowly developing into my lucky charm," joked the Osnabrück native from the Bonk Motorsport team. But seriously, my nine-eleven was super stable today, especially when braking – that's crucial at the two hairpin bends at the Norisring."

The race had to be stopped on the last lap due to an accident: After contact in a duel, Michael Essmann's Porsche 911 GT3 Cup crashed violently into the crash barrier. The entrepreneur from the Rhineland was taken to the hospital for a check-up, but was ranked second in the ProAm category. Because in the event of a race being stopped, the result is the intermediate result in the previous lap – and at that point Michael Essmann was holding his own in second place in the ProAm classification. Third place among the drivers without a professional racing background went to Sören Spreng. The Sauerlander competes for the GP Elite team.

The trophies were presented by Vinzenz Pflanz, Chief Business Officer of Sixt SE, among others. "As always in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland: a great event with exciting motorsport and incredibly committed teams. This perfectly reflects the values of Porsche and Sixt," he commented on the Norisring experience.

On Sunday, Huub van Eijndhoven will start the race from pole position

For the eighth race of the season, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will start again at the Norisring tomorrow, Sunday, at 11:15 a.m. The front row will then be shared by two Dutchmen: Huub van Eijndhoven (Team GP Elite) will start the 30-minute sprint from pole position, Robert de Haan (Proton Huber Competition) will start next to him.

Fans can also watch the second race of the weekend live on the internet, including on the Porsche Motorsport Hub as well as the channels of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany at YouTube and on Facebook. The TV station ProSieben also broadcasts on the Internet portal of ran racing.
