Robert de Haan regains the lead in the standings with the victory

Three Dutchmen on the podium: Robert de Haan has won the eighth race of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland season ahead of Huub van Eijndhoven and Kas Haverkort. With his third win of the season, the driver from the Proton Huber Competition team secured the lead of the standings in the one-make cup with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Second overall after the first half of the season is Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti, who crossed the line in fourth place. Flynt Schuring did not finish this time, but remains third in the overall standings.

As the second fastest in qualifying, de Haan managed the decisive manoeuvre after just a few hundred metres. The 19-year-old Dutchman overtook van Eijndhoven, who had started from pole position, on the first lap of the Grundig hairpin. "I took the risk and chose the outer line – when accelerating out of the race, I had the grippier side of the road to myself," said the eventual winner. After that, I had to be careful not to ruin my tyres."

Van Eijndhoven was then unable to follow the pace of the leader. On the contrary, he had to defend himself against his GP elite teammate Haverkort during the entire 37 laps. "There's nothing to gloss over: I lost the race at the start. Robert tricked me cleanly, congratulations to him," said van Eijndhoven as a fair sportsman. "My start wasn't perfect either," Haverkort admitted. But the result is great for the team. I hope we can repeat this performance at the next races."

Behind Haverkort, Porsche Junior Ghiretti crossed the finish line. The Frenchman from the Schumacher CLRT team had taken the lead of the standings after Saturday's race at the Norisring, but had to give it back to de Haan on Sunday. "This is my first year in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. To be honest, I'm quite happy with second place at the halfway point of the season," commented the 23-year-old. The second Porsche Junior, Theo Oeverhaus (Bonk Motorsport) from Osnabrück, crossed the finish line in sixth place behind Frenchman Marvin Klein (Proton Huber Competition). Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT), the winner of Saturday's race, on the other hand, did not see the flag this time: The Dutchman parked his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in the pits for safety reasons after contact with a competitor that damaged the radiator.

The rookie and ProAm classifications were attended by the same winners as the day before. Dutchman Sacha Norden even finished eighth in the overall standings as the fastest Carrera Cup entrant and further extended his lead in the standings. "It was really fun to fight with veterans like Marvin Klein and Flynt Schuring," beamed the 24-year-old Proton Huber Competition driver. Michael Schrey (Bonk Motorsport) also enjoyed the duel with his ProAm colleague Sören Spreng (GP Elite), which lasted the entire race: "Double victory at the Norisring – really awesome! It's particularly cool that I managed the decisive overtaking manoeuvre against Sören on the last lap," said the veteran from the Osnabrück region, who also took the lead in the ProAm standings with this success.

"The two exciting races at the Norisring were a great way to end the first half of the season. At the top of the table, it is close in all classifications, nothing is decided yet. This once again proves the high level of competition in our one-make cup. We can look forward to another eight varied races," commented Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.

The one-make cup with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with around 375 kW (510 hp) is now going into a short summer break. The fifth round is scheduled for August 8-10 at the Nürburgring.
