Looping by CarTech establishes itself among the frontrunners

Looping by CarTech can look back on a successful race weekend in Barcelona. At the second round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, both of the team’s drivers held their own among the frontrunners in the high-calibre one-make series.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya welcomed the participants of the highly competitive Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in summery conditions. Dirk Schouten and Jukka Honkavuori competed for the Ismaning-based team in the Formula 1 support programme in front of an impressive crowd.

Returnee Jukka Honkavuori impressed right from qualifying: the guest driver was just 0.134 seconds off pole position. This secured him sixth place on the grid. His Dutch team-mate Dirk Schouten qualified in eleventh place.

Starting from eleventh on the grid, Schouten got off to an excellent start and worked his way up to sixth place on the very first lap. As the race progressed, he defended this position with confidence, achieving Looping by CarTech’s best result to date in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

Honkavuori lost a few places during a turbulent start to his first outing in the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the 992.2 generation and initially dropped back to 15th. However, as the race progressed, the Finn fought his way back up the field and ultimately finished eleventh – a strong result for both driver and team.

“I’m very happy with this result. We were able to move up from eleventh to sixth place as early as the first lap. The start was crucial and I was able to overtake a few rivals. My thanks go to the whole team, who provided me with a superbly prepared car. We’ll keep pushing in the upcoming races,” explained Dirk Schouten after the race.

Jukka Honkavuori also drew a positive conclusion: “It was a special weekend and a great comeback in the top tier of the Porsche one-make series. Returning to this level after a break of almost three years means a great deal to me. Qualifying showed that we have the pace needed to compete at the front of the field. Even though the turbulent start to the race today prevented an even better result, I’m very satisfied with the weekend overall. My thanks go to the entire Looping by CarTech team for their fantastic work.”

Looping by CarTech will be back in action as early as next weekend: the second half of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland season gets underway at the DEKRA Lausitzring. The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will be visiting the Red Bull Ring in Styria, Austria, on the last weekend of June.
