Marçal Muller wins from start to finish at Interlagos
The 2026 season of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank opened in style this Saturday at Interlagos, with Marçal Muller unbeatable in the Carrera Cup. Fastest in Friday's practice, he was the leader in Q1 and Q2 in the morning. He then led every lap from pole and knew how to save nine Boosts for Sunday.
The 911 Cup car journey of the 992 generation saw all poles converting the position of honour into a first-place trophy. Seba Malucelli, in sixth, prevailed in Carrera Sport. And, in the Carrera Rookie, Pipo Massa wrote his name in the history of the event by winning in his first competition with racing cars.
Next came the Challenge race, won by Gerson Campos after taking advantage of the only opportunity against pole Daniel Neumann in the first braking of the race and holding his opponent for the rest of the race. In Sport, Cecilia Rabelo converted pole into victory, but had to recover position in a duel with Marco Mascari. In the Rookie, Claudio Simão climbed the podium in first place.
The day ended with Trophy qualifying and pole for Sergio Laurentys.
The Carrera races
Pole-sitter Marçal Muller took advantage of the lead and pulled well, with Lucas Salles on the outside threatening Senna's S braking. Sebá Malucelli, third on the grid, threatened on the inside but had the door closed. This allowed Thiago Vivacqua to take third place. Comparatto, boxed in, even had action to advance from fifth place on the grid. But he lacked space and he remained in his starting position.
At the end of lap 1, the safety car entered the track. The top 5 pointed out Muller, Salles, Vivacqua, Malucelli and Comparatto. Pipo Massa, in twentieth led the Rookie.
At the restart, Miguel Mariotti came to pair with Comparatto, but ran out of tangency to overtake. The #21 ended up in the dirty part of the track and was then overtaken by Jeff Giassi and Antonella.
With the release of the use of Boost from lap 3, José Moura Neto followed Rouman Ziemkiewicz along the inside line on the climb of Café and had the best trajectory to pass Pipo Massa and take the lead in the Rookie. In fourth, Malucelli remained the best Sport since the start.
Comparatto passed Malucelli at the opening of lap 6, the same one in which Pipo Massa gave back to Moura Neto. And Miguel Paludo entered the top 10 by overtaking Marcos Regadas. On the next lap, the #7 used the Boost and came out on the outside under braking of Senna's S, to pass Mariotti.
The race entered the final ten minutes with Muller more than 1.5s ahead of Salles. This was pressured by Vivacqua, who had Comparato built-in.
With the Boost, Giassi passed Malucelli at the opening of lap 11, entering the top 5.
The safety car was called again on lap 12, to remove Paulo Sousa's car at the exit of Laranjinha.
The race would restart for just over 2 minutes plus one lap, with top 5 formed by Muller, Salles, Vivacqua, Comparatto and Giassi. In sixth, Malucelli led in Sport. The leader in Rookie was Massa, one position ahead of Moura Neto.
Vivacqua attacked Salles after the green flag and Comparatto tried a third line on the outside under braking for Senna's S. But the positions remained unchanged. Alceu Feldmann was shrewd and passed Antonella for seventh place. Surprised, the #72 driver also lost position to Paludo.
The #7 then fought a duel with Feldmann and ended up getting a kick. Better for Antonella, who gave back to the multi-champion. This one was also surpassed by Marcos Regadas thanks to the use of Boost.
At the flag, Muller celebrated another victory. Salles, Vivacqua, Comparatto and Salles completed the podium. In sixth overall, Malucelli opened the Sport championship as the first winner. And Pipo Massa took the chequered flag in twentieth, to win in Rookie in his debut race.
After the podium ceremony, Muller drew the number 7, determining the respective grid reversal for Sunday and Alceu Feldmann in the position of honor.
Challenge
Gerson Campos was shrewd at the start and attacked pole-sitter Daniel Neumann on the outside under braking. Caio Castro closed the first lap in third, with Sadak Leite in fourth. Will Cesar completed the top 5.
At the beginning of lap 2, Cecilia Rabelo gave back to Marco Mascari, who had passed the lead in Sport on the opening lap. The lead in Rookie was Claudio Simão, in 11th overall.
After five minutes of competition, Neumann stuck to Gerson and Sadak was already in front of Caio Castro.
The safety car was then deployed. The restart took place at the opening of lap 7, with Gerson taking over the inside line on the first leg of Senna's S. Neumann had no way to attack, and ended up at the mercy of Sadak at Laranjinha. Caio Castro followed closely, attentive to any opportunity. Immediately behind, Cecilia Rabelo tried to stick to Will Cesar, to secure a place on the overall podium in addition to the lead in Sport. In 12th, Claudio Simão was first in the Rookie.
The race entered the final 10 minutes with Neumann pressuring Gerson and Caio Castro pressuring Sadak. They continued like this for two laps, until Caio Castro noticed Sadak shaking at the braking of the Lago curve and launched himself on the outside, in a formidable maneuver to take third place on lap 11.
The top 5 remained unchanged until lap 13, when the safety car was again called for rescue at the entrance to the Opposite Straight. And so they went until the flag.
This was Gerson Campos' seventh victory. Neumann was second, Caio Castro third. Sadak and Cesar completed the podium. Cecilia won in Sport with sixth place overall. And Claudio Simão, in 11th, won in the Rookie.
Gerson Campos drew the number 6 after the podium ceremony, determining the respective grid inversion and the first place on the grid for Cecilia Rabelo on Sunday.
What they said:
"Better impossible. We started off on the right foot, leading free practice, taking pole and winning the race from start to finish. We will keep accelerating to make a good race 2 and who knows how to leave here as the highest scorer. Fortunately we were able to open in the most important moments and we have some Boosts for Sunday."
Marçal Muller
"Very happy. It was a very difficult race. It was first in the category with three laps to go, then the safety car came and grouped everything together. Then I had to defend as much as possible and I was able to come out with the victory. Tomorrow I hope to give my best again, fight for the victory in the Rookie and who knows a position further ahead in the overall"
Pipo Massa
"I see the victory as the best possible thing and winning the first of the year will give me a lot of confidence. In this category that is so tight and complicated, I feel that we have everything to evolve more, learn more every day and stay firm in this very important championship."
Sebá Malucelli
"It was a good race, excellent start and fair disputes. I had to concentrate because Daniel, very fast, didn't give me a second of tranquility. I thank my sponsors, because I had threatened not to race. And to my wife Natália who put up with me at home with this doubt in January."
Gerson Campos
"This year we are focusing on accumulating points during the stages to win the 2026 title. This time I was 1st in Sport and 6th in Overall. Tomorrow, with the grid reversal, the goal is to collect more points to be able to take the championship in the category and the overall".
Cecilia Rabelo
"Since Thursday, when we started walking on the track, we set a goal and focused on it with tranquility and calm, hitting the track well. I avoided walking in the rain because I knew it wouldn't rain on the weekend. We set up a strategy to win pole and race and I managed to do that. I'm very happy because in addition to everything, I won this 'gurizada' at 35, 40 years old, while I'm 68 years old and 50 years old in motorsport. This is a godsend."
Cláudio Simão
