Nelson Marcondes makes his debut in European motorsport.
After seven seasons and eight titles in the Porsche Cup Brazil, Nelson Marcondes makes his debut in European motorsport.
Nelson Marcondes will compete from April 8 to 11 in the opening round of the 2026 Porsche Sports Cup Suisse at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal. After seven seasons in Porsche Cup Brazil, Marcondes is embarking on a new chapter in his career by racing in Europe in 2026. He will join the Italian team GDL Racing and share a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 with Nelson Monteiro for this round.
His participation in Portimão is part of his preparation for the 2026 GT Cup Europe season, with a primary focus on getting accustomed to the car, the team, and the technical regulations of European competitions.
“This weekend will be crucial for adapting to both the car and the team. Unlike in Porsche Cup Brazil, where adjustments are more limited, here we have much more freedom with the setup. It will be a valuable opportunity to work closely with the team, already with an eye on the 2026 GT Cup Europe season. Our goal is to maximize the car’s potential while also preparing for our debut in Portimão next week,” said Marcondes.
The weekend schedule features two 30-minute races and a two-hour endurance race.
