Shanghai hosts third Porsche Sports Cup alongside Porsche Sportscar Together Day

Alongside the Porsche Sportscar Together Day, the third edition of the Porsche Sports Cup in China welcomed 490 participants in various road and race car events at the Shanghai International Circuit. The Porsche Sportscar Together Day celebrated over 70 years of Porsche motorsport history with a large brand festival for customers and fans. VIP Hot Laps in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport kept customers entertained on-track with plenty of family-friendly off-track activities, including the Porsche Kid’s Driving School, driving simulators and car exhibition.

130 road car users took to the circuit for either their first taste of motorsport in the Introduction to Race Track programme, or to compete in the Porsche Drivers Competition time trial against fellow Porsche sportscar owners. The Porsche Parade was once again a highlight of the weekend. Open to all Porsche owners on site, not just those taking part in track activities, 343 customers participated in the iconic tour of the Shanghai circuit.

With 17 entrants in four different categories, the Porsche Sprint Challenge put on a fantastic display of racing. The Absolute Racing duo Yuan Bo and Bao Jinlong took an overall win apiece in their Porsche 911 GT3 R while Jacky Wu and LV Wei shared the cup class honours in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Chinese superstar Kris Wu was very impressive during his motorsport debut in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, setting a new Porsche GT4 lap record around the Chinese Grand Prix venue during practice, following it up with victory in both races. His weekend will be documented in the final episode of Kris Wu: Racing Driver.

Alexandre Gibot, Head of Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific: “This was another successful Porsche Sports Cup. It’s fantastic to see so many customers and enthusiasts come together to celebrate this event and the brand. The Porsche Sprint Challenge was as exciting as ever, it’s wonderful to see four different GT classes compete like this, and the Porsche Parade was once again a sight to behold. We’re really looking forward to more Porsche Sports Cup events next year.”
