Silverstone announces a full capacity crowd for the British Grand Prix & Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup

More than 140,000 spectators are expected to attend the British Grand Prix on July the 18th as Silverstone confirms that fans will be in attendance for the race weekend after securing test event status. Round 4 of The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will take place at Silverstone during the weekend in front of fans alongside Formula 1 and other Motorsport series meaning that spectators will be in for a racing treat from the 16th-18th of July.

The fantastic news comes as the date for lockdown restrictions to be eased was pushed back to the 19th of July by the UK Government. And whilst the British Grand Prix may be a day before the 19th of July, Silverstone will be used as a pilot event by the UK Government as they consider if large events are safe for fans to return to, making Silverstone the single biggest ticketed sporting event since the beginning of the pandemic.

The announcement has been greatly received and celebrated by Motorsport fans, pundits, and the organisers of the event as Silverstone’s Managing Director Stuart Pringle said that the circuit was “going to go bust” without the fans in attendance.

Those attending, however, will be required to either provide proof of a negative lateral flow test taken within 48 hours of arrival at Silverstone, or proof of full vaccination with the second dose having to have been received at least 14 days before the first day of attending the British Grand Prix.

We cannot wait to see the Porsche 911 GT Cup cars and drivers in action on the iconic Silverstone track over the 16-18th of July as fans return!
