Supercup kicks off 2026 season with Barcelona roll-out
Around 120 examples of the new Porsche 911 Cup have already been delivered to teams. Drivers from the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup have already familiarised themselves with the latest 911 cup car at the Formula 1 racetrack in Barcelona.
All cars were still in their original GT Silver Metallic colour when the new Porsche 911 Cup made its European racetrack debut at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Teams from the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland came together for the first time to unveil the newly developed one-make cup car. The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in Zhuhai, China and the Porsche Carrera Cup North America in Sebring, Florida had already completed their first shakedown. Around 120 of the new Porsche 911 Cup cars will compete in these four series in the 2026 season.
The Barcelona roll-out participants completed over 2,300 laps of the Spanish Formula 1 circuit. The fastest lap time was significantly quicker than the time that secured pole position on this track in last season's Supercup race. “The new Porsche 911 Cup is noticeably faster than its predecessor. An extra ten horsepower might not sound like much, but it makes a significant difference. The optimised aerodynamics also make the new car even more fun to drive,” says Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring. However, the Dutchman still has work to do: “I still need to get used to braking with ABS.” The official Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season test at the beginning of May will give him the opportunity to do just that. It will also take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
“The premiere of a new 911 Cup is always a very special moment. In Barcelona, 46 Porsche 911 Cup hit the track - significantly more than in an average one-make cup race. This gave us a great preview of the upcoming season,” commented Oliver Schwab, Project Manager Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup 2026: Eight races as part of the Formula 1 programme
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is the international flagship of the one-make series of the Stuttgart-based manufacturer. The fully booked field of 28 participants will compete exclusively as part of the Formula 1 support programme again in the 2026 season. Eight races at seven European Grands Prix are on the schedule. The season will begin with the Monaco Grand Prix at the beginning of June.
Both Porsche Juniors to compete in the Supercup
The Supercup field includes the two newly appointed Porsche Juniors: Flynt Schuring and Marcus Amand. Schuring, who races for the reigning team champions, Schumacher CLRT, is the current Supercup rookie champion. The 19-year-old from the Netherlands also finished fourth overall in the 2025 Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. Armand is moving up to the international one-make series after winning the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup France. The 20-year-old Finn will drive a Porsche 911 Cup for team BWT Lechner Racing.
