Team Joos Sportwagentechnik takes second place in ADAC 1000km race

Team Joos Sportwagentechnik drove to a strong second place in the ADAC 1000km race at the Nürburgring with a Porsche 911 RSR IMSA – Michael Joos set a new lap record in the race.

The ADAC 1000km race at the Nürburgring has established itself as one of the most important historic racing events in Germany. A large number of historic racing cars took part in the 1000km race on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The Joos Sportwagentechnik team, in cooperation the Mittelmotor GmbH, entered a Porsche 911 RSR IMSA, which was driven by Oliver Boyke and Michael Joos.

In qualifying, Oliver Boyke drove to a good sixth place, putting the car from the American IMSA championship in a good starting position. During the race, the team quickly moved up to the front of the field with fast lap times and became involved in the battle for victory. Ultimately, the car finished in second place, with an additional pit stop due to tire problems preventing the 1976 car from challenging for victory.

Team boss Michael Joos provided a special highlight on the final lap. With a lap time of 8:51.781 minutes, the driver, who has already demonstrated his talent in the ADAC GT Masters and at the 24-hour classics in Spa-Francorchamps and Dubai, set the fastest lap of the race. This is equivalent to a new lap record for historic racing cars on the VLN track variant of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Michael Joos impressively proved that he is also one of the fastest drivers on the Nordschleife.

“It was a great race for us on the Nordschleife. The Porsche 911 RSR IMSA ran like clockwork and, without the additional pit stop due to tire problems, we could have won the race. Many thanks to Oliver Boyke for his confidence in our team, and many thanks to the Mittelmotor GmbH for their excellent and professional cooperation,” said Michael Joos after the ADAC 1000km race. “I am very proud to have set a new lap record for historic cars on the Nordschleife. It also shows me that I am one of the fastest drivers on the Nordschleife. We are continuing to work on ensuring that our team will be on the Nordschleife more often in the future.”

In addition to using state-of-the-art GT3 cars, the Joos Sportwagentechnik team specializes in the restoration, maintenance, and racing of historic Porsche. In this context, they are also uniquely positioned to manufacture engine parts for historic Porsches that are no longer available. The range of customer vehicles extends from the classic 356 to the current Porsche 911 GT3 R. In the past, the team has already competed successfully in the Porsche Classic Car Trophy, the 356 Cup, and the Youngtimer Trophy. Well-known drivers such as Patrick Simon, Sebastian Glaser, and twins Dennis and Marc Busch have achieved success for the team from Vöhringen.
