Treble podium success for Duckhams Yuasa Racing in Porsche Sprint Challenge GB

Duckhams Yuasa Racing enjoyed three podiums in three races at the weekend (June 20–22) as Jacob Tofts continued to demonstrate front-running pace in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB.

Jacob showed strong performance during Friday’s practice sessions, setting the fastest time of anyone across the day. In Saturday morning’s qualifying session – held in hot conditions – he steadily improved and ultimately finished third quickest, just 0.022s from pole position.

He started the first race well, applying pressure on the car ahead for second place, but had to settle into third. Rain began to fall with seven minutes remaining of the 20-minute race, but he managed the conditions well and crossed the line in third. He was later classified second after the race winner received a penalty for a false start.

In race two, held late on Saturday, Jacob again had a strong launch and challenged the car in front. Although his pace looked promising, no clear opportunity to pass emerged, and he secured another podium finish in third.

Sunday’s race took place in overcast and much cooler conditions. Jacob made a good start and began applying pressure for second position early on. The race then settled into a rhythm, with overtaking proving difficult, so he maintained position and completed a hat-trick of podium results.

Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Graves Motorsport will now pause for a midsummer break before returning to action in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Croft over the weekend of August 1–3, followed by the next Porsche Sprint Challenge GB round at Knockhill from August 15–17.

“I am happy, yet slightly disappointed, but being a little disappointed with three podiums shows we’re doing well. When you follow another car, it isn’t so much that there’s aero wash, it’s that the hot air causes overheating and you can’t sit behind for too long. We’re three meetings into the season and have shown good consistency, which is promising, we just want to go one step further and take some victories. From where I was last year to this, it is a great improvement.”
