Amand Dominates Fuji as Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Hits Midseason Mark

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia travelled to the world-famous Fuji Speedway for Rounds 5 and 6 of the season, as its 2026 campaign hit the halfway mark.

Marcus Amand again proved his ability throughout the weekend, taking victories in both races across the highly-entertaining weekend. Saturday’s event saw the BWT Shanghai Yonda driver and Absolute Racing’s Marvin Klein pull away from the field to finish first and second, with Team Porsche New Zealand’s Marco Giltrap winning the battle for third against Origine Motorsport’s Ling Kang.

Guest driver Kerong Li took a well-deserved win in the Pro-Am category for OpenRoad Racing, while Wu Jiaxin claimed his first Am victory of the season. In the Masters class, Christian Chia made it a double-success for OpenRoad Racing by going from third to first on the final lap.

Amand would continue his domination on Sunday, making a clever move on polesitter Naquib Azlan to take the lead. An early three-car battle between the pair and Klein entertained the crowd, before the race settled into a consistent rhythm. A Safety Car intervention threatened to break the trio’s order, but Amand crossed the line in front, narrowly beating Team Porsche Malaysia’s Azlan and Klein.

Wang Zhongwei bounced back to take victory and extend his Pro-Am championship lead for Origine Motorsport, while there were also wins for 2024 Am champion Eric Kwong (Bergwerk) and reigning Masters title-holder Adrian D’Silva (EBM).

Later in the month, Chang International Circuit played host to the opening Thailand Super Series round, featuring Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand.

In the GT3 category, Henk Kiks and Alessandro Ghiretti enjoyed a strong opening round, securing second in both races for B-Quik Absolute Racing. Elsewhere, Simon Chan and Li Jia wrapped up two overall GTM podiums as well as both Am-class victories in the #10 Fire Monkey Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992.1).

AAS Motorsport’s two GT4 entries both claimed strong results across the weekend, with Kantadhee Kusiri and Dechathorn Phuakkarawut clinching the win in Race 2. Joining them on the podium was Kmik Karnasuta and Thanapattra Sutthisawang, as the pair moved up from fifth to third in Buriram.

On the same weekend, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific’s 992 Cup class returned alongside China GT, with 610 Racing fielding four cars in the category. He Xiaole and Yuan Runqi took victory in Race 1, while Porsche Carrera Cup Asia racer Yan Chuang solo-piloted his car to the win in Race 2.
