Disqualification crowns unforeseen winner in Monteblanco

Manuel Alves (LOB Motorsport) and Dylan Pereira (AF & V Motorsport) claimed victories in the Sprint Race, while Pereira, alongside teammate André Fernandes, secured a second win for their team in the Endurance Race, marking a successful debut for the Porsche Sprint Challenge Iberica (PSCI) at the Monteblanco Circuit in Andalusia.

The second round of the series proved to be a demanding challenge for the 20 drivers from four nationalities, delivering intense racing and showcasing the increasing competitiveness of the championship.

Sprint Race 1: Manuel Alves dominates from lights to flag

Manuel Alves put in a commanding performance in Saturday's opening Sprint Race. After setting the pace in Qualifying 1, the LOB Motorsport driver led every lap and set the fastest lap time of the race.

Starting from pole position, Alves immediately took control, despite pressure from Alejandro Barambio and José Barros, who engaged in a thrilling battle for second place.

Although Barambio managed to close the gap midway through the 20-minute + 1 lap race—especially as front-runners began lapping backmarkers—Alves responded with increased pace and pulled away again. He crossed the finish line with a margin of around three seconds over Barambio, who had successfully fended off a late charge from Barros. The two crossed the line nearly side by side.

The overall podium was mirrored in the Category 2 standings, with Alves also taking top honors in the PRO-AM group and Barambio winning among the AM competitors.

In Category 1, Rui Miritta (Monteiros Competições) dominated from start to finish, claiming his first victory of the season along with the Group GD win. His teammate, Nuno Inocêncio, followed in second, while Spain’s Pablo Hernández brought the RGB Racing Team Porsche 991.1 GT3 Cup home in third, winning the Group AM.

In the Ladies Cup, Francisca Queiroz secured a comfortable victory. Youngster María Sánchez Iglesias was forced to retire at the end of the first lap due to mechanical issues with her 991.1 GT3 Cup.

Sprint Race 2: Dylan Pereira unstoppable!

Sprint Race 2 saw a lights-to-flag masterclass by Dylan Pereira. Launching like a rocket from pole, he built a gap from the very first lap, consistently setting quicker times and eventually finishing over nine seconds ahead of Borja García (GT Corse) and Manuel Alves.

García and Alves engaged in a fierce battle for second, even running side-by-side at times. They had a brief opportunity to challenge Pereira when the Safety Car was deployed on lap 9 after an incident. However, Pereira executed a flawless restart and stormed to the finish, celebrating his first Sprint Race win of the 2025 PSCI season, and a double victory in both Category 2 and the PRO-AM group.

Borja García defended second place overall and in Category 2, while Alves had to settle for double third place. Jorge Ramírez (RCG Racing Team) finished fifth overall and secured the win in the AM Group.

In Category 1, Nuno Inocêncio was declared the winner post-race after Rui Miritta was disqualified. Inocêncio also topped Group GD, while André Marques inherited second place and won the AM Group. Pablo Hernández once again completed the podium.

Francisca Queiroz continued her dominance in the Ladies Cup, guiding her LOB Motorsport Porsche 992 GT3 Cup to another solid win. British driver Chloe Grant retired on lap 8 but was classified second, having completed the minimum race distance required.

Endurance Race: Pereira and Fernandes deliver for AF & V Motorsport

The Monteblanco weekend concluded with a grueling 50-minute Endurance Race under searing 30°C heat and on abrasive asphalt.

GT Corse secured pole position with Alejandro Barambio and Borja García, while the AF & V Motorsport pairing of José Barros and Nuno Baptista lined up alongside them. On the second row were Manuel Alves (LOB Motorsport) and the highly favored AF & V duo of Dylan Pereira and André Fernandes—coming off a win at Portimão.

The early laps featured a tight battle between Barambio, Alves, and Barros. On lap 10, Alves took the lead, while Barros attempted a move on Barambio, sending the Spaniard into the gravel and himself into the pits due to damage. The AF & V car returned later with Nuno Baptista, recovering to ninth by race end.

Alves held the lead and built a small buffer to Fernandes, while Jorge Ramírez (RCG Racing Team) established himself in third with a clean and efficient stint.

During the mandatory 10-minute pit window, driver changes saw Pereira take over from Fernandes and rejoin just a few seconds behind Alves. On lap 18, Pereira made the decisive move for the lead and began pulling away, eventually taking the win by 12 seconds and securing a second victory of the weekend for AF & V Motorsport.

Alves finished second, giving LOB Motorsport another strong result. In a dramatic turn, Ramírez dropped out of podium contention with mechanical issues in the closing minutes, allowing Daniel García (RCG Racing Team) to step up and claim third.

A standout performance came from Francisca Queiroz, who once again raced solo and finished fourth overall—also securing her third Ladies Cup victory of the weekend.

Monteiros Competições’ Nuno Inocêncio took the Category 1 win, placing sixth overall.
