Success across multiple classes for Porsche Motorsport Asia in Thailand Super Series opener

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customers enjoyed a strong start to the 2025 Thailand Super Series, taking overall and class victories across GT3, GTM and GT4 classes.

Seven Porsche cars entered the season-opening event, which was held at the popular Chang International Circuit in Buriram. The teams and drivers faced changing conditions of high temperatures and wet weather throughout, making it a challenging weekend for all in the field.

The event also marked the series debut of the current generation of Porsche 911 GT3 R, and it was a successful first appearance for the car. Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak and debutant Laurin Heinrich secured second in the opening race for AAS Motorsport by EBM, while Henk Kiks and Sandy Stuvik claimed fourth in the #26 B-Quik Absolute Racing machine.

In GTM, Thailand Super Series regular Simon Chan clinched second in the strikingly green and black liveried Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for Fire Monkey Motorsport.

The marque made an excellent start to the season in the GT4 category, with Kmik Karnasuta and reigning champion Kantadhee Kusiri claiming victory for AAS Motorsport. They were followed home by Australian Todd James Kingsford, making his Thailand Super Series debut, with the solo driver earning a fantastic second overall for FEYNLAB Racing in addition to the GT4-Am class victory. Iaro Razanakoto and Sathapond Veerachure for B-Quik Absolute Racing took fourth place and second in Am.

Sunday saw more great racing, with heavy rain at the start making racing difficult for those on track. With the rain ceasing early and on a drying track, Inthraphuvasak and Heinrich mastered the conditions to clinch the GT3 category victory in the #18 car. They were joined on the podium by Kiks and Stuvik, who drove excellently to claim third.

Fire Monkey Motorsport’s Simon Chan again showed his pace in the GTM class, taking third overall and second in the Am category.

The GT4 race saw one of the most dramatic finishes, involving two Porsche entries. After Kusiri and Veerachure completed their first stints, Karnasuta caught Razanakoto in the closing laps, making the overtake to clinch victory. An unfortunate spin saw Razanakoto make a quick recovery and eventually crossing the line in third. Phuakkarawut and Sutthisawang claimed fifth overall for AAS Motorsport, while Kingsford finished the weekend second in the GT4 Am class.

Thailand Super Series returns to action on 2-6 July, when it visits the stunning Bangsaen Street Circuit for Round 2, where Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will also compete in support.

NLS ADAC 24h Qualifiers

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Selected Driver Dorian Boccolacci was also on track, competing in the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers with Falken Motorsports. Sharing the car with Nico Menzel, Boccolacci showed excellent pace in variable conditions, ultimately claiming fifth place. The Frenchman will return to the Nordschleife on 19-22 June for the incredible Nürburgring 24 Hours.

Laurin Heinrich, AAS Motorsport by EBM: “My first ever race weekend in Thailand was a success! After a decent opening result on Saturday, we clinched victory the day after to ensure a strong start to our campaign. Thanks to the great work of the team as well as Vutthikorn, we’ve laid down a great foundation for a strong season together.”

Kmik Karnasuta, AAS Motorsport: “We executed everything perfectly and leave Buriram with maximum points! We came from last to first in the opener and then converted pole position into the win during the second round! I couldn’t have asked for a better start to this season! Thanks to the team for their amazing support throughout the event.”

Kantadhee Kusiri, AAS Motorsport: “This event managed to exceed our expectations as we crossed the line first in both races! We now lead the championship which is amazing, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the team and my fellow driver! We’ll continue to keep pushing and can’t wait to be in action next time out in Bangsaen.”

Dechathorn Phuakkarawut, AAS Motorsport: “Crossing the line brought a mixture of relief and pride. Regardless of the finishing position, I know that this has been months of preparation for all of us. I’m proud of our effort and excited to hit the track again in Bangsaen.”

Thanapattra Sutthisawang, AAS Motorsport: “This event was my first time driving in the rain! There is still so much I need to learn and improve on, but I’ll continue to keep pushing. Thanks to the whole team for all your effort and we’ll ensure we come back stronger next round.”

Sathapond Veerachure, B-Quik Absolute Racing: “It was a positive weekend with lots of new experiences like driving in the wet conditions! I’ve learnt a lot from this round which will help me for the rest of the 2025 season.”

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “It was great to be back in Thailand Super Series, with entries across three classes. We had a strong start to the season in GT3, with a superb victory and double podium in Race 2. We’re also delighted to be leading the GT4 championship as we look to defend the title in that category. There’s a lot of enthusiasm within the paddock, and the series is growing year by year. Well done to our teams and drivers this weekend for the great results, and we’ll keep pushing for more. Thailand Super Series is a priority target for us this year, so we will continue to support our customers as best we can as the championship travels to Bangsaen for Round 2.”
