Two final races will decide all four titles of the 2025 Carrera Cup season

The season in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland is heading for a dramatic finale. The title decisions in the four classifications for drivers, ProAm, rookies and teams will not be made until next weekend at the Hockenheimring. The 15th race of the season in the German one-make cup with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup gets underway on Saturday (4 October 2025) at 11:10 am. On Sunday (5 October 2025), another 30-minute sprint from 11:15 a.m. will mark the end of the year.

"After another consistently high-class season, I'm now looking forward to the last two races of the year. All four title decisions will be made at the Hockenheimring, some of them probably on Sunday – the fans can expect a thrilling finale," says Thorsten Rückert, Project Manager of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.

Drivers' standings: Showdown between Alessandro Ghiretti and Robert de Haan

The thrilling duel between Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti (Schumacher CLRT) and Robert de Haan (Proton Huber Competition) has already spanned the entire season – it will probably not be decided until the very last race. With a victory and a second place at the Red Bull Ring, the Dutchman was able to reduce his gap to the championship leader from France to twelve points. In each of the two races at the Hockenheimring, a maximum of 25 points will be awarded. Only if Ghiretti extends his lead to at least 26 points after the first race of the weekend will he be able to celebrate his second 2025 title after winning the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup on Saturday.

"The Hockenheimring is more demanding in terms of driving than it seems. I only know the circuit from my time in Formula 4. The tests on Thursday before the races are correspondingly important for me," says leader Ghiretti. Pursuer de Haan achieved a third and an 18th place on the Baden race track last season. He is combative: "At the Red Bull Ring I was able to make up 22 points on Alessandro – and I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to do the same at Hockenheim."

Third-placed Huub van Eijndhoven is already 65 points behind league leader Ghiretti. The Dutchman from the GP Elite team is battling for third place with Talent Pool driver Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT). Israeli Ariel Levi (Team GP Elite), Porsche Junior Theo Oeverhaus (Bonk Motorsport), who lives in Osnabrück, and Janne Stiak (Target) from near Hanover also have a small chance of intervening in this duel.

ProAm rating: Michael Schrey already has match point on Saturday

With seven victories in the 14 races so far, Michael Schrey is the dominant man in the ProAm category. The man from Osnabrück, who drives a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup for Bonk Motorsport, travels to the finale with a 39-point lead over Ahmad Alshehab. The Kuwaiti would therefore have to make up at least 15 points in Saturday's race to stay in the title race until Sunday. Alshehab has celebrated two ProAm victories with the [a-workx] by Porsche Paderborn team so far this season.

Rookie classification: Dutch-British-Brazilian three-way battle

Before the finale, three drivers can still go down in the history of the German Carrera Cup as the best rookie of 2025. With a victory and a second place at the Red Bull Ring, Sacha Norden has given himself some breathing space again: The Dutchman has extended his lead over his British Proton Huber Competition teammate Joseph Warhurst to 17 points. With a deficit of 35 points, the Brazilian Matheus Ferreira (Target) also still has mathematical chances of winning the title in the Carrera Cup newcomers.

Team classification: Here, too, the duel is France against the Netherlands

Because the team classification takes into account the two best-placed drivers per race and a one-two result earns 45 points, up to 90 points are up for grabs at the finale in Hockenheim. Mathematically, the Proton Huber Competition team, which is in third place, 38 points behind, also has a chance of defending its title. In practice, however, everything is likely to come down to the continuation of the duel between a French and a Dutch team: GP Elite is 24 points behind Schumacher CLRT, the two-time team champion from the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – so everything is still open in this classification as well.

Synthetic fuel in racing

With the approach of reducing CO₂ emissions in motorsport, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will use the synthetic fuel "DTM Pro Climate" at all eight race weekends in the 2025 season, which the ADAC is also using for the first time for its DTM, ADAC GT Masters and GT4 Germany series.

The race track: Hockenheimring

Today's Hockenheimring began operation in 1932 as a test track on forest roads with a length of about twelve kilometres. Six years later, the runway, which was subsequently called the Kurpfalzring, was paved and shortened to around seven kilometres. The construction of a new motorway in the 1960s required a new route layout, including the Motodrom, which is still in use today.

In 1970, Formula 1 competed for the first time at the now almost seven-kilometre-long Hockenheimring. After several modifications, the so-called East Curve – a characteristic high-speed section – was shut down in the early 2000s and later renaturalized. The route used today measures 4.574 kilometres. In 2018, the Porsche Experience Center Hockenheimring opened its doors on the grounds of the racetrack. It features a separate 2.7-kilometre handling course and an off-road course.
