Winner Robert de Haan regains the lead in the standings before the final
After a turbulent race at the Hockenheimring, the duel for the title in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland is completely open again. Robert de Haan has taken the lead of the standings again with his fifth win of the season. The Dutchman won ahead of his South African Proton Huber Competition teammate Keagan Masters and Germany's Alexander Tauscher, who competes in Target's Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
Porsche Junior Alessandro Ghiretti crossed the finish line in sixth place. As a result, the Frenchman goes into the season finale at the Hockenheimring tomorrow, Sunday, with a deficit of two points, which starts at 11:15 a.m.
De Haan had actually already resigned himself to second place. But two laps before the end of the 15th race of the season, the previously leading swapper turned into the so-called "penalty lap": On the instructions of the race control, he had to reduce his speed to 50 km/h in this 50-metre-long penalty zone. His offense: disregarding the track limits too often. "Strangely enough, I didn't receive a warning in advance," the Bavarian said angrily.
As a result, De Haan inherited the lead. "First of all, I have to thank Keagan Masters – it was perfect teamwork!" said the Dutchman. In fact, the South African held second place for a long time on his debut in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland. In the final phase, he then let his teammate, who was racing for the title, pass without a fight. "I had already discussed a possible swap of places with Robert before the start," Masters revealed. When the situation actually arose, we went through with it, of course."
The fact that the interim second place even became the victory apparently surprised de Haan little. "Alexander was really often on the track barrier. I expected the punishment for him because of that," he described. Speaking of penalties: Due to an incorrectly executed overtaking maneuver, the stewards grumbled Keagan Masters five seconds after crossing the finish line. As a result, the current overall leader of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia fell back to third place.
Title rival Ghiretti did damage limitation. The Porsche Junior had only qualified for eighth place on the grid. A penalty from the previous race at the Red Bull Ring relegated him another five positions to the rear. Although the Frenchman delivered a strong performance and overtook several competitors in the race, the newly crowned champion of the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup was unable to quite reach the leading group. "From 13th place at the start to sixth place at the finish – more was really not possible today," he commented.
Directly in front of Ghiretti, Talent Pool driver Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT) crossed the finish line in fourth, followed by Huub van Eijndhoven (Team GP Elite). However, the sports stewards also subsequently imposed a five-second penalty on Schuring. As a result, Ghiretti moved up to fifth place.
Mathematics for the final
Ghiretti goes into the last race of the season with a slight advantage: He has qualified for third place on the grid, de Haan only starts from fifth place. If this is also the finish, the Frenchman would be the champion of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland 2025 – with a three-point lead. De Haan, for his part, must finish ahead of Ghiretti if he wants to maintain his narrow lead. His joker: If both opponents have the same amount of points after the last race kilometers of the year, the 19-year-old Dutchman would be champion - because he would then have one more than Ghiretti with five victories this season.
Michael Schrey is ProAm champion
Michael Schrey crossed the finish line as the best-placed ProAm in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup fielded by Bonk Motorsport. The rookie champion from the 2006 Porsche Supercup season thus secured the title in this category. However, the penultimate race of the season did not go off without a moment of shock for the Osnabrück native. "I made life difficult for myself. Due to a small mistake, I lost a few positions in between," admitted the manager of an amusement park. "Fortunately, I was able to make up for lost ground. Now I'm looking forward to the finale on Sunday, which I can tackle without pressure." Schrey shared the ProAm podium with Michael Essmann from Westphalia – who took second place for Team75 Bernhard – and Ahmad Alshehab. The veteran from Kuwait competes for [a-workx] by Porsche Paderborn.
Sacha Norden secures the rookies title
A victory has also settled the question of the title among the rookies: Dutchman Sacha Norden won the Carrera Cup rookie class for the eighth time this season and is therefore uncatchable in the finale on Sunday. "Not exactly my best race, but the result is perfect," laughed the 24-year-old from the Proton Huber Competition team. Nick Ho finished as the second-best rookie. The Dutchman contested his first race in the German Carrera Cup in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the GP Elite team. With third place, Brazilian Matheus Ferreira (Target) was able to keep his chance of second place in the annual standings. This place is held by Britain's Joseph Warhurst (Team Proton Huber Competition) before the final.
Alexander Tauscher starts from pole position in the finale as well
Tomorrow (Sunday, 5 October 2025), the Hockenheimring will serve as the venue for the final race of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland season. Once again, Alexander Tauscher (Target) will start from the front, with Talent Pool driver Flynt Schuring (Schumacher CLRT) starting from the front row next to him. The final 30-minute sprint starts at 11:15 a.m.
Fans will be able to watch the second race of the weekend live on the internet, including on the Porsche Motorsport Hub as well as the channels of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany at YouTube and on Facebook. The TV station ProSieben also broadcasts on the Internet portal of ran racing.
