Victory on home soil for Max Coates and Duckhams Yuasa Racing
Duckhams Yuasa Racing celebrated a triumphant weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB as local favourite Max Coates clinched a Pro-Am win at Croft Circuit in Yorkshire.
The weekend began with two practice sessions on Friday, followed by a single 30-minute qualifying on Saturday. Max demonstrated impressive pace, topping the Pro-Am timesheets and finishing third overall – just 0.2 seconds shy of pole position.
In Sunday’s opening race, he made a strong start and held second place briefly before a Pro class competitor overtook him but from there, he maintained a clear margin to the next Pro-Am contender and produced a composed drive to secure his class victory.
Starting race two from second in Pro-Am, Max again ran in the top three overall. As he applied pressure at the front, he received a penalty for exceeding track limits and was frustratingly relegated to fourth in Pro-Am following a post-race investigation into his grid positioning.
Max and Duckhams Yuasa Racing by Graves Motorsport now enjoy a nine-point lead atop the Pro-Am championship standings at the midway point of the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season.
The team will be back in action in less than two weeks’ time, as both the Carrera Cup and the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB head to Knockhill in Scotland, where Max and Jacob Tofts will be aiming to continue their strong form in each series.
#71 Max Coates
Race 1: Grid – 3rd, Result – 4th (1st in Pro-Am)
Race 2: Grid – 2nd, Result – 11th (4th in Pro-Am)
Pro-Am Championship: 1 (69 points)
“I am very happy with the weekend, as we qualified third on the grid – our best result of the season – and I put in some of my best drives. There were a few people a bit disappointed we missed out on an overall podium, but another Pro-Am win is great, and we had the fastest lap in both races. In race two I lost out because I went for it – it didn’t pay off, but I gave it a good go and there’s a lot of momentum this weekend we can take to Knockhill.”
